I remember this was posted a while ago and just saw it on Facebook. Had to repost it because it made me smile and couldn't help think about how much fun SUP surfing is. It should be illegal

I have to agree GR,

I love that vid because he make it look effortless on such a bigass board.

I do like the wickety wack of the shorter boards but the grace and flow of the longer board SUPing definitely has its place. Timing, balance and cross stepping all have to be just right to get those moves to work that well.

Guys like Keahi and Lummers etc that have the whole deal covered old school and new school get my vote, on the nose one second and then cracking the lip the next.

I think the easier you make it look the more skilled you have to be, but when its judged in comps you often dont get the rewards as it doesnt look like your working hard enough?

Great post Greenie

classic vid- great repost

I really like watching the longer boards at work under the feet of skilled rider

all that drive, rail and trimming just looks really stylish to me and this vid summed that up nicely.

Another guy i really like style wise is Galvo here in WA - he works the whole board and uses so much rail and power - definitely throwing great lines. Nice to see he hasnt become automatically drawn to short boards like so many of the crew

Had a chance to ride alot of the Starboards at Merimbula recently and liked a few of the shorter boards (especially the 9'5 x 32) - and didnt like some of the shortboards that turned amazingly but gave away soooo much just for ability to have a nice snappy turn - maybe they are just too much for my skill set.

however the SB Nose rider 10 ft was absolutely the stand out board for me - such a blast and so drivey and efficient - and able to do nice drivey turns into pitching sections with safety (shortboard style) with an incredible nose platform to go weightless magic toes on the nose

The short board stuff is cool too - Matt Lumley was shredding on some of the tiny wood carbon boards - and that recent vid of Zane was pretty sick

- but most crew just seem to stand in one place on them and look
- ironically-
considering the design brief of these boards -
kind of stiff -
possibly not drawing the sort of lines they think they are.

I have noticed that one key difference between the style lords and the "stiffies" is that the good guys tend to trim a lot - even on short boards - whereas the progressing riders look like they are stuck in one spot on the board.

Maybe its just me and what i like to see stylewise on a wave

Got to try and learn those nose ride threeos this summer!
