Eddie Vedder + Laird Hamilton: ICONOCLASTS Season 2
ICONOCLASTS -Icon's who dare to change the way we see and do things.

"This episode brings musician and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder together with big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton to talk about life, art and nature as they experience the awe-inspiring sights and sports of Maui. The discussion continues backstage at a Pearl Jam concert in Santa Barbara. "

Basically it showcases the friendship between Laird Hamilton and Eddie Vedder, lead singer for Pearl Jam. Two artist's who share a common bond - the musician who expresses himself on stage and the waterman who expresses himself in the ocean.
What brings them together - playing in the ocean!!
Here are some teasers. Looks like a great series ( dowloadable in itunes)

I didn't come away, after watching it, thinking that they were great friends. It all looked a bit fake to me. It looked like Eddie visited Laird for a day, if that. In that short time they went on a helicopter ride, went jet skiing, went paddleboarding, and checked out Lairds beautiful property in Maui.

The "big surf" song just made me cringe - the lyrics were like a nursery rhyme written while on crack and that painting Eddie did of Laird was terrible. Laird also seemed to enjoy the 90 km bike ride to the Perl Jam concert more than the concert - who could blame him! Guess I'm not a big Perl Jam fan.

I couldn't imagine Laird has too many friends, he seems pretty much fulfilled with himself and his own goals. You got to love his energy though - reminds me heaps of Steve Irwin.

The iconoclasts series isn't usually people that are friends but people that they put together that are both standouts in their respective fields. It is a great series with some interesting mixes of individuals.

Eddie stayed at the Ponohouse for his honeymoon when Bill was still renting it....not far from Lairds place. I'm not sure if that was before or after the iconoclasts show was taped.
