Super stuff Surfee Chick!!!! Very proud Dad I'll bet!!!! Just remind him it's you not him on the front cover, even if he has been your personal chauffeur, trainer, sports psychologist and Bank!!. Hopefully you have no difficulty getting sponsors after this sort of coverage. If Kristi isn't getting sponsorship that's covering her costs to events OS, then we as a supping community in Australia should be ashamed!!! I'll go and whack some sense into them with my walking stick Sorry to bring a sober note to what should be purely a celebration, but I also realise that her incredible ability and success has come at a considerable cost to your whole family in so many ways!!! If I was a millionaire I'd personally sponsor her because of the great media exposure she provides.Hopefully I'm p-------g into the wind and Kristi is know getting taken care of re sponsors. Maybe you won't have to re mortgage your house Phill!!! Kristi you deserve all the good stuff that comes your way, I've seen you out there in the middle of Victorian winters, wearing multiple layers of protective clothing practising your craft..
Kristi is totally stoked to be on the cover and we just wanted to say thanks to a heap of crew who have supported and helped along the way as no one does it on their own!
All the people below and many more gave their time, their effort and most importantly their belief to a skinny little girl who at 12 decided she wanted to compete in Victorian Open Mens SUP Title and got told "No" initially but after some negotiation she paddled out and that day in 25+kn onshore multiple rips never caught a wave but she also never gave up.
She walked up to me afterwards and said dad one day I will win a Victorian Title.
About 6 weeks ago I saw Kristi paddle onto and surf a wave on her own 1.1km offshore that would have made most people **** themselves.
I want to say a special thanks to Sam Williams and DJ who just continue to amaze me, people don't know how much effort they put in behind the scenes for the juniors.

Leroy sponsorship is a very complex thing it comes in many different forms reduced cost products, no cost product support, financial support etc etc.
We do have some amazing product support relationships (see above) and its a blessing, however I assure you I foot all the bills for travel, airfares, accomm etc etc and thats just the way it has to be in Australia due to the size of the market.
Kristi had some all time offers of support when we were in the states and she loves the people and the lifestyle but realistically the cost of airfares and her existing study commitments makes it pretty prohibitive to follow up!
We were honoured to feature Kristi in our publication and would be stoked to feature her agin in the New Year. If anything in the meantime should come along then please let me know as we can upload it to the website. All the best Kristi and Phill for all of your help with this and the very best for the future months. I will keep in touch:)
I'm really glad to hear that !! :) :) Many Many Congratulations to you Kristi and last but not the least I should not forget the true effort by your photographer Congrats to him also !! :) saltyliquid.com.au/
The photographer gets the easy option to sit on the beach or the boat and watch it unfold and it's all pretty interesting.
I was looking back at SUP images of 2008 and thinking wow how much she has changed.
Kristi has even more passion for the sport these days and so many options to pursue I wonder where it will all go?
Whatever the direction, it will be with a beaming smile, a carbon paddle in one hand and a sup in the other and thats all that really matters to her :)
She just loves the ocean and the way it makes her feel and wants to share it!
