Think that might be an Isuzu Bellett Bulldog Pup, sorry bit of a closet car nerd....
Funny seeing that numberplate, instantly remembered the number plate of my Dad's car from that era, JRE 501 - bit sad, can remember the number when I was 10 years old but would have to walk out and have a look if you asked me what mine was now.
Hey MJ, you need to write a book capturing the surfing era you grew up in, illustrated with your art and some classic photos. Too much passion and energy and quirkiness to go to waste.

Lorne point, Rennie Ellis photography, he captured lots of this era at Lorne, now in the NGV, check out his website for great shots of the KingsCross as well, died a few years back, there was also a bloke called Trevor Lempke who took lots of photos of the swinging sixties around Lorne and beyond, they used to do the whole scene, beach by day, restaurants pubs by night and sell the images in a little studio under the now demolished Art Deco treasure called the Cumberland the next day, very cool, sitting on the stairs as a grom with "me mates", checking out the passing chicks was a favourite pastime :-)) lots of his photos feature in Murray Walding's collection of historical surfing books...
good story MJ! .... and check out that Alfa Bellette , haven't seen one of those for years
