Can you post the times on here. We are using your times as a bench mark here in Mackay.

Thanks

Hey Swanie,

You guys are going a great job at running your time trials and getting lots of participation. Can you tell us about your course layout? How many buoy turns are there? I figure that more turns means slower average speeds over the course.

We're trying to get some interest in time trials in Toronto. Did our first run last week with 9 showing up. 5 of them did a 4.2km course with 3 180 degree buoy turns. Speeds for the 4 men were all between 8.2 and 8.6kph. The 1 female averaged 7.9kph. This was a 2 lap course. 4 less experienced paddlers on surf boards did a 1 lap course.

It was interesting to see that the guy that won the race was in 3rd place after the first turn but passed 1 racer at each of the last 2 turns to win. He was about the same paddling speed but he could clearly turn better!

SUP is still somewhat of a novelty around here but it's gaining momentum this summer.

did a solo lake session on dusk today. was about 10knots wsw but had dropped to about 5-6 by the time i finished. thought i managed a super quick time, (first use of my garmin for paddling) but realised when looking on the computer it must have somehow delayed starting. here is the data anyways if anyone is interested.

given my average pace was 6min 45 seconds, and assuming i was at that pace for the first 210 m (total course 4.24km) my total time should have been around 28min 35sec.
