Great shots, I just caught the tail end of it and had a chat with Kai. Would have loved to see how he made the take offs at Suckrock.

The tide was up would be my guess.
At a lower tide it's just for the lids.

Yeah awesome hey, he paddled out, got barelled, paddled back out... hair still dry!
I was even amazed how casually he just chucked his board into the choppy water, and steeped off the rocks straight to standing and paddled out. Sounds simple, but pretty sure I couldn't manage it...

It was sucking enough that it was only lids out there, all the surfers were over at voodoo.
He made the take offs look easy! Really cool to watch.
