YEE HAA! Welcome to the club!
Is that the big Naish? Looks massive compared to you in the photo?
What kind of SUPing are you gonna get into?

It's not me. That's the terrific french? salesman who sold this 11" naish board. I'm going down to Inverloch on the w/e to start practicing in the inlet. After seeing `Blue Crush` one night and a couple of people in the bay doing it I had a weird idea to use the board to get to remote spots for fishing.... and of course to surf, stuff around with the family and just to work out my upper body. What can I say... this sport has really captured my imagination.

There are some evil tidal/river currents in the inlet in Inverloch. I've managed navigate the worst of them pretty well on a sit on kayak. But, I'm curious to find out other peoples experience using SUP to traverse strong currents.

I have an 11' 6" Naish. It's a good choice for a family board, surprisingly robust, and good fun in flat water or waves.

I have a tidal current where I surf and it is much harder to handle on a SUP board than on a 12' surf ski. I have had to paddle out on my knees to get out of the combintion of chop, waves and current. I kept away for several months until I could build up my strength for stand up paddling.

When its windy it sucks to SUP
Even if it is offshore winds
Ultimately you want ZERO wind
I will upload a photo of a ZERO wind flat water location...

One more sleep to go... and guess what? looks like zero wind temperatures in the low 30s and a swell of about 1m this w/e in Melbourne. Should be perfect.

Hey Ollie...I'll be paddling tomorrow..Where will you be?..I'll be down at St Kilda marina between 10am and 1pm..It's looking good.

The forcast is 5-10 knots..maybe less....and from the South..So behind the breakwater it will be..GLASS..

That French guy's name is Fab..He is a nice guy...Congrats on the new board.

I went to Brighton Pier for about an hour this afternoon - pretty close to perfect conditions. I was a bit shaky at first but after I realized the board is actually quite stable I got the hang of just standing up and paddling around pretty fast. I really enjoyed how you can look deep into the water - nice and clear today which was a bonus. Really looking forward to Inverloch this w/e. I think I've seen you DJ paddling around St Kilda the last few weeks - I'll join you in the weeks ahead - thanks
