SUP Racer has Eric Terrien as 5th in the world and is inviting discussion over who is 6th at present. I'd say Jake has just shown that he, Jacko, Kelly, Beau, Lincoln, Sam and probably a few others from Australia have a decent claim on 5th spot, more so than the Frenchman.

Kai was on a 'Limited Edition' Javelin 12'6, Jakey was on the Hollow MC production shape. Here's some pics from Jake, he's not sure whether the board will go into production or not:

My feeling is there will be some moving around in the whole top 6 this year as i know all the boys have steped it up lately and are set for a huge year!!

A 24" wide MC board? That thing must weigh 7kg at most.

Massive effort, well done Jake. As Jacko said I think if they do a top 12 in 2012 it will be heavily populated by one specific area, especially the top end.

I think you'll find it's an optical illusion. Looking at the two shots above, the first one has the LE look longer whereas in the second, the production board looks longer.

Did a bit of a summary of the new board: www.supracer.com/naish-javelin-le-12-6-race-board/

Basics: 15% narrower and 23% less volume than the current 12'6" shape.

The hollow core 12'6" (the other board in those photos, which isn't even in stores itself yet), is going to be less than 9kgs, so this new one should be super light.

As for the Top 6 Of 2012 (So Far...)

www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=328819903868734&set=a.247807045303354.60319.152153771535349&type=1&theater

www.supracer.com/best-sup-racers-of-2012-so-far/

I think Eric really deserves his spot at #5, though it's hard to compare because there hasn't been a single race this year where all five of those guys competed (...these rankings are only for races in the first 6 months of 2012).

Jake, Jacko, Beau and Kelly all have a claim on #6 right now. By the end of the year any one of the Currumbin crew could be (and probably will be) Top 3.

Those four guys are probably all Top 10 at the moment though. If you add in Travis and Jamie, then you've got at least half of the world's truly elite paddlers within a 10km radius. Not bad!

...and to get this thread back on topic: Awesome result in Chicago for Jakey. Hopefully he can beat Ryan Helm (how'd you let a Mexican beat you?!) in the Long Distance today and take Top 3 overall.

Down to 4 degrees Celcuis this morn and still 20 paddlers at training.
Thats cold for Gold Coasters. Melbourners would probabably be sweating.

Now we are starting to get more girls than guys, so look out on the international scene as the ladies start to bring home the bacon....

Jake came in in 6th spot!! Would have liked to see him on the same board as Kai and seen how much difference that would have made for him!!
Hopefully Naish can get him on one of those more boards soon.
