I had a look at the JL mano and Coreban performer at Jasons . I havent surfed either. They both looked like great boards. I have been surfing a JL 11 ft single fin but im looking to progress. I mainly surf at Cottesloe but occassionally at Lancelin. Im 54YO 85KG taken surfing up as an adult , average ability but i enjoy it.

Im thinking a JL 9'9" mano. Seems a good compromise in size and performance for my level.

Can't go wrong with either board in the surf...

But if I was faced with the decision I would probably go the Coreban performer. It will be good in waves to head and abit in height which is good enough for Cott, has much better glide for the long paddles out and in at lano, stability is vastly different (about 20L) so if your average ability you'll appreciate it. The coreban is versatile mainly being a wave board but acceptable and enjoyable in flat water paddling unlike the mano, that is a straight out surf SUP.

I'm sure you'll get some mixed responses, that's just my 2c worth

Two totally different boards. I think the mano paddles a lot straighter than the performer. It's longer and narrower so that makes sense to me. The performer I demoed yawed more than any other board I've surfed but I did have the fin a long way forward so that could have been the reason. The performer is significantly more stable but seemed a bit corky for me at 85kg. Both good surfing boards.

Have'nt ridden a JL but have surfed the 9-6 Coreban. I'm 88kg and I found the board extermely bouyant/corky , it's really stable and very easy to surf. It's construction it's tough as nails , I put it through hell in PNG on the reef breaks and it came out with only a few scratches.

Here is a shot of the board in action in PNG.

Would be worth hanging off for a week or so because a little birdy tells me that the new Coreban 9.0 and 10.0 pro model sups will be coming to a beach near you in the next week or so and from what I see and hear they may well be worth you checking out.
