Some advice if you can...

I'm thinking of purchasing an inflatable SUP so I can get on the water during the working day without having a board on the roof of my car and creating an air of 'playing rather than working' amongst my workmates.

Are inflatables strong enough and built in such a way so as to be in / deflated and folded up 2 or 3 times a week over time or more designed as a 'deflate only when necessary' facility.

Advice from anyone in the know would be greatly appreciated.

Hey mate,

The original design and reason they make the inflatable is for storage and travel. So for people who are living in a apartments etc can paddle everyday but roll it up at the end of each use. Most inflatables are strong enough to withstand daily use of inflation deflation as that's what there designed for.

What size are you looking at ? More info at www.c4waterman.com.au

Cheers hope this helps

Hey there,

I am no expert but I did spend a lot of time researching inflatables and ended up finally buying the Naish Mana 10"L 6'D. I took this to tonga on holiday and my partner and I had so much fun with it. They are easy to inflate and are pretty stable as long as you have enough air in them (I am a beginner out on the waves and even caught a wave a few weeks back at Byron).

All I can say is I am so happy I bought the Naish.

new SUP pump coming that's easier to get to 15psi and beyond, posted info on the zone:

they have produced a new model of that pump that's a bit taller and thinner, so it's easier to get an inflatable SUP pumped to 15psi and over, I expect most brands will switch to the new model for 2013

max pressure 27.5psi
volume : 2000cc
size : 11 x 22.5 x 59 cm

volume is a little less than the current popular model, so the initial 12psi or so will take a bit longer, but after 12psi this new model will be way easier

this one is also single action only, like the current model, so should also be a very low maintenance reliable pump.

I made this video almost a couple of years ago , and these boards still are going strong. They are Boardworks boards and I got them through Balmoral Paddle surf. Talk to AA on this site he is the guy with the horrible gash/fin chop in his leg.

Aparently the new Starboard inflatables are really good. Also the Naish.

There was a video post last week:

I had a Red Air board for quite a while which I was pretty happy with. I think the thing to check with all these boards is the "official" air pressure that they can take. As well as saying something about the construction, more air pressure = more rigidity.

You must must must demo any inflatable SUP you are thinking of buying in the conditions you expect to ride. They are not like any other SUP. The feel is entirely different.

BTW In this thread www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/SUP/The-battle-of-the-two-new-inflatables-vid/ it is said, "What a great day." and mention is made of having fun. At no time is it said "What a great SUP."
