I can help explain the book being wrong. When they put the book out some boards are in prototype stage so they go with the dimension that they think are the close to right, but things change between proto's and production and in some case's its too late to change the book.

I hear you BUT, for someone like me, I procrastinated for ages tossing up the 10 or 9'5 Mana and really based it on numbers (dimensions) rather than the volume / litres / capacity that is referred to as that seems to vary so much (ala Star-board to Naish for example).
31 3/8 x 4 3/4 is a deal different to 31 x 4 1/2 for someone who's not tuned into the smaller boards prior.
If it's all changed during the prototype stage which is understandable, I'd have thought that over 12 months later marketing could update the double page ad spreads and web page - that's all ?
Maybe you or DJ or the like have a contact with Naish and could give them a gentle nudge that nothing short of perfect in print is equal to the perfect product they produce.
