I spent 10 days on Maui. I tried standup in waves for the first time. It's a lot easier to catch mushy waves on a SUP than a regular long board. I wish I could of rented a shorter more maneuverable one for the waves.
It's North of Lahaina.I don't know about the parking situation. I stayed in walking distance of were I surfed all 10 days. There were several places (parks) South of Lahaina that had ample parking and appeared to be pretty mellow paddle board spots. I think they were a little smaller in size during the North swell. Honolua Bay was 15' during the same time I was surfing here. Some of the larger sets were about head high where I was at. Where are you planning on staying?
Ps there were 3 shark attacks on Maui in the 3 weeks prior to my arriving and a spear fisherman was attacked while I was there. I saw a huge Tiger shark on the surface near Maalaea while I was there. Glad I was in the car and not in the water at the time.

We are staying at a place called Kanaha Shores in the Kanapalli area. It's on the water.Did that break have a name? We should be close.

We stayed at the Alii. The point break is in front of it. There is another break called Rainbows about 2 miles north of that too. You can get a surf report for rainbows.
