It never gets big here in Florida...

But it was sure was thumping Saturday afternoon:

Here's Palm Beach Inlet

You can watch this wave here (Scroll to 5:15 and start watching then)

Sunday morning was windy but more manageable.
Here's Delray Beach, just south of Palm Beach.

This is REALLY big for here.

Wind has been side-off since Sunday. Swell has slowly been shrinking. Pretty epic for us in Florida. It's been a Barrelfest like we've never seen...

Now we sit and hope it doesn't do as much damage in New York as the over-the-top newscasters are predicting...

It's big, but I'm pretty sure that it's only a cat 1.

I gave up watching and then noticed him pop out. Had to do a double take that last wave was amazing.

Man there was some guys getting eaten alive out there..I'll bet the Coast Guard was stoked to be out there rescuing surfers though

Actually they use the same rating scale. Called the Saffir simpson scale or something. Cat 1 is Cat 1. I learnt about this stuff at School living in Cyclone country North Queensland.

It was a huge storm though, if it has the same intensity as Hurricane Katrina or TC Yasi it would have been like the apocalypse.

I was distressed though to see the loss of the Bounty. I have been following them on Facebook for a while and they only just finished a re-fit. One crew member is confirmed deceased and the Captain is missing presumed the same. While some got surf others faced far too much.

Great waves, thanks for the pics, it has been so crap here for so long at least someone is getting waves, just a shame about the price paid in NY.
