Is this the next phase of SUP design evolution?

Weighs about 140lbs.

Could you imagine this thing coming through the line up at your local break....great way to meet new people I suppose.

Yeah that looks just a little wide good question though at the Roar comp on the weekend there were the latest production boards on display of all sizes and shapes , fat , skinny flipped noses ect and then you look at the boards the pro riders were using and the width is definitely coming down.

This is simply a reinvention of the old "crocker skis" that they used to use in the 50s and 60s, except those one had a rope attaching the nose to the middle of the paddle.

I use to own one of these and they were a whole lot of fun, especially when going tandem. They were not pointy at the tail, so they were a whole lot more forgiving than these ones look.

No such thing as too wide so long as the board is under control and the paddler is having a good time. I have no problem at all with mega wide stable boards in the lineup because the sooner that people get their sea-legs and learn how a lineup works and spend less time falling off and more time surfing the wave then the sooner they will become accepted and safe in the surf and not be a bloody nuisance constantly falling off their too small / too tippy sup and blowing waves and getting in the way and causing a danger to themselves or others.
Was actually walking past the surf museum at currumbin this morning and was wondering how that bigarst board of Nevs would go as a sup

Ha. That's a pic of John Christensen at the 1974 Wave Ski World Titles - held at Wanda Beach! He looks different with a few less kilos and no beard.
