Here are a few more tips that I have also found useful-
If your board doesn't have a pin line, Builders chalk line, or a piece of string (held in place with masking tape) is an easy way to mark the centre line.
If you have large pieces of grip, flip it over and very lightly cut out a 2" strip of the backing paper down the middle of the grip. Remove only this 2" strip of backing paper, place the grip in place (it is now very easy to move around) and then peel of the sides one side at a time.
If you are really handy and have a router lying around, it is a very easy way to get a 'good as new' finish around your handle after the grip has been put down. No measuring required - the well itself acts as a jig.
The nice thing about gripping your own board is that you can customise it with some different colours.
If you do get bubbles after grip has been put down, prick the centre with a blade point and remove the air through the pin hole.
