G'day all,
Just seeing what others think here.

I have been surfing my 9'6" Coreban Performer in general 1-2ft waves confidently for some time but when I get it out in slightly larger or more powerful surf I find I am struggling to top turn sharply as I can on slightly smaller waves but more importantly I am finding the back end sliding out from time to time when doing a bottom turn from the cut back (hope this makes sense)

Had it happen a couple of times last night in clean 3ft swell and although sometimes it can be quite fun - just hang on and wait for it to grip, it threw me off last night with someone paddling out in front of me.

I would assume a larger fin would perform beter in both areas or would it pssibly just come down to design?

Thanks for your help

Oh dear....people aren't being very helpful :(
With a good pedigree board like that (& 3 foot isn't a very big wave unless we are talking a hawaii type 3 foot)....maybe you need to adjust your technique a little rather than expect a different fin to change things
What's with those alaia wooden boards anyway...they haven't even got fins

maybe move your middle fin back or a fin with more base length but sounds odd that its sliding on bottom turns but tight on top turns

If your running the standard Coreban fin set , sounds to me your are trying to surf from the middle of the board , that's why it's hard to turn and then when it does turn it can slide because you don't have enough weight over your back foot. Weight on your back foot not only helps the board turn but it also keeps pressure on the fins and rail to hold in the turn.

I assume you have your side fins in ? place your centre fin in the just forward of middle in the fin box , and surf with your Futures fin key in you pocket as it will fit the screw on your Coreban fin box . Catch a couple of waves and move the fin back 10 to 15mm. You only need to loosen the screw a few turns and you can bump the fin back.

Keep doing this until you find the sweet spot , remember to move your feet taking pressure on and off the fins and as you start to lay the board over move start laying on the paddle , you will be chucking buckets before you know it.

Check out this pic of Ivan below , I shot this a few yeras ago when he came to Noosa..... check the board on it's rail , feet position and pressure on the paddle.

That's what's it's all about

Thanks gents.
Must admit...never thought to move the fin

I think between a fin adjustment and possibly looking at the way I turn under the lip will see me right.
I have found it pretty loose when I'm standing on the back pad which I love whilst charging down the line but feel I might be getting my body weight too far forward as my backhand turn on my toes is not flash and I think I am snapping it around a little too flat instead of round (if that makes sense) and pushing out with my back foot assisting it to slide.
