When I posted this pic the other day, some people thought I was irresponsible allowing Kristi to paddle out in these conditions. Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion and I take thier thoughts onboard.

What they may or may not have know is that even though Kristi was 500+m away from me I could talk to her like she was right next to me by using the Headzone radio helmet system! It allowed me to tell her to bail and swim through the back of the wave.

On this beach you cannot get line ups as the sand dunes in the foreground are higher than the back ground. The time between sets is quite long so there is no white wash to tell you where the break actually is. Its quite easy to get it very very wrong.

The radio system allowed me to put Kristi in the right position for the next wave and she got it easily because she was in the right spot.

We use the system to correct foot position, stance, rotation etc in real time as she surfs.

Lacey and Mac said more knee bend on back side turns and we got to this stance in one week:

I dont own shares in the company and they dont sponsor either Kristi or I.

I got the idea from seeing it being used at a Shayne Horan High Performance Clinic.

We have never looked back!

Great Idea Phil and I applaud your commitment to your daughters surfing.

One thing I have noticed in my involvement with sport and a lot of time at Junior contests and events is there is without fail a supportive family base behind every great competitor. I deal with people who sold their house and travel in a big bus from event to event to support their kids surfing.

P.S The surf looks maybe 3 feet in that picture, perhaps you were criticised by people unable to deal with waves of that size??

Hey Phil you should see the surf I take my lot out in - the same crew would be ringing docs LOL!!

As long as they can swim OK - let em go for it. We made all our kids do squad training once a week to make sure they were really strong swimmers - even thouh they hated it

CMC your right 3ft maybe 4ft on the bigger sets.

I guess the issue is what you might see as being easily within your skill set others see as being quite challenging!

Just trying to share a different way of coaching that many people may not know exists that we have found valuable over the last 18 months.

We'll move Torquay way in the next 12 months, have already started the ball rolling. It's these reasons that are my motivation for moving, to be close to the surf and to have such a physical, healthy and family oriented lifestyle. Hats off Phill, awesome pics, and awesome idea!!! Kickin ass Kristi!!!

Hey Phil, one thing though.

Is it like remote control. Like: "OK, here comes a section, go high, ok now drop, bottom turn, set the rail and you're gonna smack it, Right bottom turn done straight up and Urrrggghhhh. OK good girl........"

That's how I'd be.

CMC Ah no,

The first few times you do that because its new.

Then when they come up the beach and slap you with the paddle you learn to shut up and focus on the important things.

All I know is that at times like now when you cant be out there with them, it makes them safer and you still feel like your out there your self in a way.

The huge smile you get when they achieve a new move or have a great session, well what can you say.

Isnt that what life is about?

Phill

PS anyone selling a slightly used BUS pink in color?
