Surftech make good solid sup bags that fit a sup and mal in. I took mine to Telos last year. If you haven't already booked go with Resort Lattitude zero. It's cheaper, better and they take you to far better spots on the south of the island group. you wont regret it. Matt and Wal know their back yard and are legends

Yeah thanks chookman for the advise, Ive already booked the trip so no turning back now, waves look like they are unreal everywhere around there, maybe have to make sure the guys at the resort know that I know about the South end and that they better fire up the 4 stroke and get us down there.

Yeah the 9ft OAM cover is good and fits the 8'6 PSH nicely, there is enought room to put some towels in there as well for extra padding, we have them in stock if you are driving past.

The best board bags on the market from Zippers, to materials to foam density and features and value for money are FCS covers. They even offer superior margins to retailers selling them.

Their 10 mm travel cover even comes with a free paddle cover.

For some reason though even with Dave Kalama, Danny Ching, Candice Appleby, Slater Trout etc etc etc on their team they are not really pushing into the Aussie SUP market.

It's a bit confusing to me especially as an ex employee.

Don't feel to bad we do alot of FCS covers and they are a good cover, we have about 30 FCS covers hanging in the shop at Lab. But from what i have seen the OAM fits the 8'6 boards better at the moment.

I think I wrote that wrong, I meant it didnt seem that FCS was targeting the SUP market much in Australia not the other way around.

Was looking at a heap of Maldive trips Jenny, which one did you take up, I think we,ve both progessed a lot from the times we were bumbling around inside the Tally rivermouth trying to learn the caper, I met you a few times out there.

OAM make an 8'6 bag that should fit a shortie in also, as they are really wide.

An 8'6 wide ripper will float around in an OAM 9' bag, and even with a short board will need to pack pretty heavily.

If you have a ripper you will want to protect the nose and tail pretty well so a 9' bag may be good idea, just not one that is 38" wide.

Creatures 9' slim fits 8'6 WR snugly and as it expands will also fit in a shortie without excess packing which can make the bag too heavy.

FCS do not make a specific 8'6 SUP bag, but have an adjustable version that is too thin for 30" wide board over 4" thick. Smallest FCS for SUP is 9'6. Not sure if new ones are different, but earlier ones were pretty narrow...

I'm sure there are other SUP bags around that will do the job. Best bet is to shop around and find the one that suits your needs the best.

Yeah mate hope I can get into some waves like that too, how far apart are the 2 surf camps, looked like there was a few crew out on some of those days, I guess there are the charters to compete with too. did you do those little photo sequences yourselves or did the resort do em. looks pretty professional, I know the lodge do a photo package but it sounds a bit XXY

Wal at Latitude Zero took heaps of photos from the boat. He parked 50m away from the break and had a 300mm lens. He let us download the pics at the end of the day no charge.

The breaks are 10 minutes apart but 30 minutes to get to. Our host loaded the boat with lunch and Bintangs and we made a mission of it every day. Surf one break, eat , surf another break, have a few beers, surf another break and do the Bintang run back.

The other resort would usually do a radio check in the morning and we would leave them alone. No dramas at all. We only saw one surf charter yacht for about 10 minutes and they left. No crowd factor here!!

check out:

Parksy's Indo Adventures on youtube for more pics.

Cheers.
