I was wondering if someone can please tell me the least expensive way to ship a single 8-6 SUP (box will be about 9') from Australia to California? What did it cost and what company did you use to ship it?

Thanks!

Can you just fly with on your flight? Much easier and you won't have to arrange a Freight forwarding company. If you send freight form Australia you will need a forwarding company to handle all taxes and duties for you, this will cost you approx, $1000 AUD. You can also try Qantas or Virgin Air Freight.

I won't be visiting Australia so have to ship it. Do you know if I can ship it using my own business name with UPS as less-than-container load? Or do I have to pay a freight forwarder to handle it? Trying to save money here.

Try to find people moving from AU to OZ, and negociate a place in their container.
I know there are web sites putting people in contact for this for France => AUS, maybe some exists also for AUS=>US ?

Good idea. Thanks. I will look into that for sure. I contacted UPS about getting a quote for what they call "less-than-container" load but they wrote back and said they don't ship personal items and that I need to contact an international shipper.

Angie is right it will cost a fair bit if you do it that way, alternatively find a good friend/relative that is planning a holiday or work etc in Australia, put a crappy board in a board bag that will fit your new board in and bring it over, leave that board and bring the new board on the return to usa. sneaky but effective
