Hi, i want to remove the vent plug from my NSP DC raceboard to clean it out and check its working. Having trouble finding a socket to fit, anyone know what size is needed please?
I dunno the size but I imagine plumbers tube spanners be the best option. Go Bunnings, they sell a whole set for $21.50. If they don't fit nothin will.
Gore-tex vents use 16mm keys.
I would not touch it however: just pour soapy water on it, and put (briefly) the board in the sun. If it bubbles in less than a minute, it works OK.
Thanks Colas. I'll test it as you suggest and if any issues now I know what size this thing is. Looks like there is only 2mm gap around the vent, would need to find a thin-walled socket to get in there!

What Colas said - I'd otherwise leave it alone. It's a good practice to give the Gore plug a flush out with fresh water now and again, apparently accumulated salt crystals can affect how the Gore membrane works (dunno if that's true but prevention is better than cure eh?).
IF you feel compelled to take it out, make sure that whatever socket you use is fully engaged with the body of the plug and not just the top cap. It's real easy to rip the cap part off (don't ask me how I know). If you do happen to rip it off the plug will still work but the Gore membrane won't be physically protected and the plug probably should be replaced - not a big deal, replacement plugs are less than $20 and Shapers usually has them.
