My new HD Go Pro is playing up , it won't fire up properly. I'm thinking it's the battery the camera blinks then nothing , the battery had been on charge all night .Only few months old and never been in or near the water.

Anybody else had similar problem ?

Maybe just take back to where you got it or contact Gopro direct as i'm sure they would have the answers.

Try their website, on their forum it has a ton of trouble shooting stuff. Helped me out a lot when i first had a few issues.

Speaking of GoPro, has anyone seen one of those new viewfinder screens for the GoPro HD? Have they arrived in Australia?

Yeah I've seen one and played around with it yesterday..

My mate has one for an upcoming motorcycle trip.

It's pretty cool.

Rob, try a soft reset -

Do not use memory card.

Press shutter while camera is OFF and turn on camera.
Hold shutter and press POWER button 3 times.
This is the same as FW upgrade actually but without memory card in camera.

Finally, before you reinsert, wipe the card in a PC (format FAT32) then format in the camera using the delete ALL function in the menu.

In future -
1. Only use a card reader, don't connect your GoPro to a PC/Mac with the supplied USB cable.
2. Use an iphone charger with USB cable (or other 1000mA 5volt supply) to charge your battery not PC.

This should get you up and running.

Cheers Rambo

Hi Rambo - as someone in the know why should using a card reader make a difference?

There are numerous reports of both PC's and Macs corrupting the SD card and contents when connected via the USB direct to the camera. The best thing to do is to LOCK the card with the little switch on the side before inserting the card for dumping, that way nothing can be altered but the files can be downloaded. Card reader is faster and safer.

USB port on the Gopro is very delicate, it's best to limit it's usage to charging via a dumb charger like an iphone charger rather than an intelligent connection like a PC USB port.

Don't forget to UNLOCK the card before your next recording session.
