To see out the end of daylight savings, SA SUPCREW will host a Battle of the Paddle style Twilight Series in front of the Glenelg SLSC from this Fri 25th March for 3 weeks. Registration is from 6.00pm, briefing at 6.20, race start 6.30pm. Entry is free!
The format will be decided on the night depending on conditions, however its likely to be a two lap event & include two 75 metre sprints to finish at the beachwall.
Three male & female divisions will include surf, 12' 6" & 14' boards.
Paddlers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate & bring your mates as we should have demo boards available.
Parking is an issue, however we can drive into the Surf Club area to drop off & pick up boards as long as vehicles are removed promptly.
Beers afterwards at the "Surf Club" & meals for anyone wanting to hang around.
See ya there,
Phil

As the first event of its kind in Adelaide the Glenelg series is being run as a precursor to a major series next spring/summer. Glenelg, with its family friendly environment, is Adelaides premiere beach offering conditions ideal for spectators, sponsorship attraction & for paddlers of all skill levels to be involved, showcasing SUP as a growth sport here in SA, all as the sun sets over Gulf St Vincent.
While there is no swell, the anticipated afternoon sea breeze & the short chop with runners will make for exciting racing & level out the playing field.
The anticipated series next summer will be held at Glenelg, Mid & South coasts giving varying conditions again to suit all skill levels & will include teams events.
Cheers,
Phil

From memory there is a 12km section of the Mid coast exposed to ocean swell that gets between Kangaroo island and Yorke peninsula ,otherwise its wind chop or a trip down south for waves.
