I am wondering about the pros and cons of using wax or non-slip tape (or other).
What is proved to work well up front on a SUP that has the typical deckpad that covers the center and back areas?
Thanks!

I have just waxed mine, but I have newax on one of my shortboards which is pretty good and I think would work really well up the middle on the font of a SUP. It is pretty hard to find but you can email on newax@bigpond.com and they will post it out to you. I put it on the shortboard at the start of winter so have only had it under booties, I haven't had a chance to see how it goes under bare feet.

This stuff rocks!

Monster paint traction. I use it on the nose of the SUP and on the rails of the racing catamaran, really grippy but not too rough under foot. Easy to apply you just spray light coats on. About $30 a can.

I think a few of the pro's are using it on their surf sups and on the tail of the race boards.

Thanks for the post Jilimbilo. Can we order this online or is there an Australian distributor?

Hi Foxkiter
You can get Monster Tract paint in Qld through either of the Sunstate Hobie Stores in Brisbane or Cooroy. $30 per can and it will do 3 average size boards noses, 3 coats per nose.

There's some special wax called "Mad Wax" which could be worth a go !

This is a repost of a photo I put up before of Chuck P and Gerry Lopez spraying Monster Paint on their boards. Originally I put it up as guys were looking at quick ways to customise their stock boards ...

if you have a shortboard style sup and think you need some grip up the front, you are probably better of just getting off the wave and get a better wave next time

now that is soooooooo sooooooooo true........lacey......haha.....

the spray on grip works great, ive got it on the tail area of my race boards

it was a bit harsh at first but it has now mellowed out and is really grippie.....but i still fall onto it heavily and constantly cheese grate myself

but i heard that chicks dig scars, so that is cool!!!!!

I use a cold water wax- the added advantage is everytime you stand up, your paddle handle gets a waxing when you lay it on the nose of your board. Good for sunscreen hands
