Why force people to wear pfd's?
You will be 400m offshore max
Surely they can make up their own mind.
This is a SUPWA requirement for training.
All SUPWA members are covered by the Personal Accident Insurance Policy.
Non members are welcome to participate, The Pod Captain, which in this case is Jenkz, has a responsibility to inform them that they do so at their own risk and that it is recommended that they join SUPWA.
No leg rope and inflatable PFD type 1 equals no downwinder. A flare is strongly recommended.
Jenkz will be in charge and responsible for nominating 2 sweepers to bring up the rear. These 2 sweepers should never pass the paddlers in front and should arrive to the beach last unless they have delegated their position 'clearly' to another paddler.
If someone is in trouble, raise one hand or your paddle whilst sitting on your board and the closest paddler will render assistance. It is the duty of care for all paddlers to look after each other.
