My partner and I are looking to buy our first SUPs we have done it quite a bit but with hiring boards. We don't want to spend more than $1000 each including paddles and leg straps etc but I'm struggling to find any?? Need advice on brands etc. I have found some but I can't find any reviews on the boards themselves eg kasa factory SUPs. I was also looking at shogun surfing but they are all out of stock.
We want probably a 10" each. One of us are 65kg and the other is 85kg. The boards will mostly be used on rivers or calm oceans.

We don't want inflatables. Open to reviews on soft top boards of people could offer personal experience.

Try Nick at the SUP Warehouse (supwarehouse.com.au)

He will have something that fits your budget and he ships Australia wide.

I have looked on that website and can't find anything that would fit my budget? (Once you include all the accessories you need eg paddle)
Should I contact them directly?

Buy used. What you will want will quickly change anyway as you progress, you will be able to afford a better board than buying new, and you won't have to worry about depreciation, or getting that first ding.

Often you can get good deals on ex-rental boards at the end of season from hire places.

We did want secondhand at first but in Adelaide it's really hard to find them in good condition and to get someone to ship a secondhand one from interstate was proving to costly. The hire places around here aren't selling good secondhand ones either - or they're charging too close to the new price :-)

agree with area 10........get secondhand but make sure it is a quality brand like starboard so when you sort out what kind of board you really want it maintains a decent resale value

I bought my first sup last week from Gorgs Boards www.gorgsboards.com.au
They're based in Perth but have a stockist here in Adelaide. Todd is his name - top bloke and really helpful. He's got some old stock to move for new stock. For the $1000 you get the board, paddle, bag and leash. The newer model is $1700 I think from memory.
As a first timer here it's an easy board to use - I guess saying that I have nothing to compare it with but I'm in love with it!!
Have a look.
