Just got back from Fiji 8 days of the biggest surf I've ever seen, got worked on the reef at Restaurants, just of Tavarua Island, on a 9'8" SB Pro. But got a good one on the SUP at the outer Namotu Reef, also a great wave to kitesurf. Wish we had a better camera.

We (Sunshine coast Sup FUN) will be going again in Sept, 5 of us went but would be good if we could get 10 to12 to come next time.
You would have been stunned to see the size of these monsters. Jarrett who works the shop & Tim a friend & customer, Surfed Restaurants till there arms almost fell off, THEN THE BIG DAY. No surfing for us just the pros there jet ski's & other mad men.
see this link, (it will take ten to twenty seconds to start) I was not the only one to get eaten. Check this guy out at the end on a SUP at Cloud break on the big day, He must be a mad man! You would have to have a gun SUP to make Cloud Break if you were lucky, & two days earlier, I was crazy going out at Restaurants, (right that reef hurts & the wave is so fast).

On the following day Jarrett & Tim only got two waves in three hours sitting along side Kelly Slater & the other pro's, waiting for the leftovers. After Kelly just ripped the waves apart like it was just a day in the park, Amazing !
Hope you like the link.
Special Thanks To Adam for getting us out there & helping us organize the trip.

Thanks for this. Apparently the surf at Cloudbreak is so good Kelly is willing to really disadvantage himself for another ASP World title this year by choosing to stay in Fiji and surf "once in a lifetime swell".

Sounds like a memorable trip around those elite legends , one never to be forgotten, good work john and jarret. Who wouldnt stay there instead of 2ft jbay coldness ,refering to kelly, 10 world titles - legend there will be no better in our lifespan, swells in fiji arent always that clean/big and that perfect , epic footage. you would sell your left nut to be there live , even to be watching drinking beer on the boat with camera dudes !

Stoked for ya sckitesurf
I've seen Cloudbreak 12ft + and mean in May. If you're coming back to Fiji in September I'll see ya in the water I go back next week for 2 months. Namotu lefts is the best wave in the world to SUP. When Restaurants is pumping I'm on my short board bugger the SUP you'ed just be wasting waves.
When Restaurants is pumping so is Swimming Pools how good is that wave.

Swimming Pools was the best wave for the groop on a mid tide (fun) & quite big, this would be the wave for every one at all levels, I hope to catch up with you Downwinder. Thinking of going back now if I could & staying at Namotu for just three nights but have to work Bills to pay new Season ahead. If we don't go in Sept, will hook up for Nov.

Not SUP, but Jason Polokaw charging on a huge wave at Tavarua. Tim Bonython posted that it may be the largest wave he has ever seen ridden there, considering the time he spends behind the lense there I guess he would know.
