Greetings,

I about to buy a Fanatic Prowave 2013 8'10. I have been SUPing for two years on a Paddle Surf Hawaii beginner's board from a surfing background. I am 36, 6'0 foot and weigh 91 kilograms. I surf on the Northern beaches of Sydney. Can I please have your views on the following:

1. On making the transition to a performance board should I go for the 9'3 option to get some additional volume to assist the transition (despite the 8'10 being apparently appropriate). I am worried as my existing board is very stable.
2. I see the board can be used for windsurfing. I have never done it before but very interested in giving it a go. Any views on the Fanatic Ride Rig or do you suggest another option. Secondly, any tips on how best to get into it?

Go and demo some boards in the ocean.
When you think you know the size you want demo some more.
The Surftech van and trailer were on the Northern Beaches recently and it was a great opportunity to jump on so many boards but it was all flat water.
Go to any of the major shops and try their demo boards.

Hey Tom,

not knowing what your riding now, what conditions you want to ride the new board in and where makes it hard to give any suggestions.

Every board is different, I agree with DCC go and demo the board before you buy it.

Try the board in good, bad and ugly conditions not just 5mins in the flat.

When your happy buy it.

Phill

I was lookin at getting the new starboard brushed carbon 9'1 but couldnt part with $2600 for it, thats mental. When I first picked up the fanatic pro wave i was blown away by how light it is. It looks like its come from the ferrari factory with the carbon finish. Anyway i ordered the 9'3 but after a bit of thought went with the 8'10. Could not be happier with it, its an absolute weapon. Im 6'0 and 87kg. Hope this helps

Drop on by and take the 8'10" for a demo. Have the Fanatic Ride rigs in store to take a look at also.

I'm 61yrs, 98kg & 6'2". Am now surfing 9'3" custom so you should have no problem at 8'10".

Hi Tom,

Go see the crew at WindSurfnSnow.

They are located just between Dee Why and Collaroy, on the road that heads down to Longreef headland, so not too far from you.

They stock Fanatic and will probably be able sort you out with a demo board to try before you buy.

You'll love it.
I'm about the same weight but older and love the 8'10. Even been on 8'0 and its not as bad as I thought.
You should have a problem but demo if unsure.

I also had the 2012 8"10.

The shape is dramatcially different for 2013.

Go for a paddle on Windsurf and Snows, youll love the new 8"10.
