Took the Starboard Ace 14 x 25" for an upwind / downwind paddle yesterday, more stable than a 25" board has any right to be and so so easy to get it onto a swell.

It was choppy 10 to 12 knots and the thing was linking, amazing! Felt a little awkward at first with my feet in the footwell getting back into surfing stance but its quite do able

Sorry for the pimping

You're talking about pimping, right?

As for the board in question, had a run on it this morning (thanks Jonathan) in glassy conditions with no wind and the iPod GPS showed that it is a pretty quick board for top end speed but the most interesting thing is that it travelled 20 metres further in a 60 second sprint from a standing start compared with my K15. That's impressive.

If we don't get a surf in on Sunday we might get a light-wind down-winder in.. and test the new 14' SB against the 14' Jav.. .. I might have to wear a wettie.

Shame the 25+ knot wind for Sunday has been down graded to only 15-20 ..

DJ

Sunday 17 July
Winds
North to northeasterly 15 to 20 knots decreasing to 10 to 15 knots by early evening.

Hey Jc and Dj, the SB 14 open ocean arrived today, so I'm still planning an early Sun morn, WP coast run. Explore a few reefs, catch a few lumps, catch a fish or 2.
Let me know if you're keen.
