Thanks for the fun today guys, I backed it up with a surf out at Bells, super smooth, not too many guy's out, awesome day once again. Bring on tomorrow, bigger and better!!

While I'd rather surf (when conditions allow), this story personifies the versatility of SUP. If plan A does not work just paddle over to the next reef.

Courtney please accept our condolences that sucks, I hear there were a few people hiding under the kelp on the bombs yesterday and more sitting on the beach.

Your board wasnt the only casualty from the weekend, this is my prop after tangling with the reef.

Straight after this I smsed Matt and John and told them it was a little sketchy.

Tux in the scheme of things a prop is a prop on the smaller engines they are designed to shatter to protect the drive shaft so probably a good thing.

The frustration was at 2.6m you can cross the bar pretty easily if you pick your time and wait for a lull. At 4.1m the white water breaks right across the entrance easy for a ski but it becomes a crap shoot for a RIB unless you have heaps of power and can just flatten it at the critical moment, for us not the case for those conditions under gunned. With expensive camera gear on board not going to take the punt.

So you can see a pretty perfect wave on a perfect day but highly unlikey you will paddle out the 650+m from the beach on a SUP to get to it. Short board probably able to do it if your happy to take some solid beatings in the shorey and subsequent reefs to get out there.

The frustration is the planning and the waiting all works out, but not to be.

Thats what pisses you off the most!

Sorry to hear your back is playing up mine has too recently and its a bitch.

There are a couple of projects underway in the next 8 weeks that will be interesting.
