Hey guys.

I found this website when one of my very, very naughty students was on this in dance class, and since I often incorperate Stand Up Paddle Boarding with my dancing, I thought that this would be the best place to get some pointers.

Recently I bought a 11'6" Naish and I think it is very stable. It is the perfect board for me to do my special dancing on.

I was just wondering if there are any other people on this forum that mix dancing and Stand Up Paddle Boarding together.

If so, what are the best ways that I could build up my calf muscles and get more balance.

Thank you in advance,
Jack

Hi Jack and welcome....To be honest it all sound a bit gay..Not that there's anything wrong with that............................Just kidding Jack...

I have a mate down here that's into dance and he SUP's (and not gay) ...I'll ask him.

Now..about this.."Special Dance"....Please explain?......Good choice on your board btw..

There is actually quite a lot of girls in Sydney getting into it. Here is a shot of one of the better girls in the group.

Funny topic given that...

A couple of weeks ago I was told by Mr WindSurfnSnow (using his best Mr Miyagi accent) - "to paddle, first you must learn to dance".

My only repsonse was to fall in (again)

Hey JayBee,

That was a private moment between an intructor and his pupil. If you give away all my gems then why would people pay for lessons.

DJ,
Are we missing something. I thought the AFL was turning into a soft sport but now surfing and dancing? Whats next wetsuit dresses? Maybe I am waxing the wrong stick?

Scotty.... Your a wind surfer from SA...... don't start calling Sydney guys soft...

As for Surfing = Dancing .... I think that's totally true, and it all comes down to your own interpretation ....

I wish I had a dollar for each time I've heard a pro longboarder or try-hard surf coach use that line..

Unbelievably, I thought I'd try and add something serious to this thread :-)

I am from a windsurfing background so when trimming my SUP (Exeocet Kona) I tend to shuffle up and down the board with a scissor step. I gather the purist Mal way is to "cross step". Is this a style thing or are there actually some technical benefit to this ?

I remeber reading in a surfing magazine one of the Longboard gurus suggesting getting a longboard skateboard to learn/practice the cross step on. This leads me into this:-

Actually doesn't look that gay all things considered !
