Hey guys made myself a newy 8'6" under 100 litres and filmed the process was hard to edit hours of work down into a short vid so i cut a few things outta there hope you enjoy
Cheers Dan
That's one of the best videos on here Dan. Loved it.
I had the pleasure of surfing with Dan this morning - the new 8'6"s maiden voyage. Dan was ripping in up on the chest high left handers. Looked like he was riding a standard shortboard with big snaps off the top. It looked super fast and very manouverable.
The board looks great - awesome shape and unreal finish.
Awesome video Dan, thanks.
I used to spend hours in the Country Rhythm factory when I used to get boards shaped by Lisle Coney. Brought back heaps of memories of the boards being shaped, sprayed (with my own designs), glassed and polished.
Hey thanks guys cheers i wasnt to sure if it was boring or what not as to me its just normal so im really stoked you guys liked it.
yeah milko shes very quite im the worry though![]()
Casso cheers mate you were rippin yaself as always
It's always nice to see a craftsman at work. It was an awesome vid, I am very impressed.
Cheers Scott
G’day DTM
You’re a Master Craftsman
thanks heaps years of slaving away in that blue 12 foot by 6 foot room though helps
Fantastic video mate! I really enjoyed watching that.
After years of dodgy repairs, and several (even dodgier) home made boards, I learned a few tips from only a few minutes watching you work...
It looked like you laid up the deck twice. Do you laminate each layer of glass seperately? (I always assumed that multiple layers of glass got wet down with the resin at the same time.)
When did you turn it green? Was it sprayed, or tinted hot coat?
Looks like a sweet shape too BTW.
Wicked video .. watched it from start to finish .. like the ending.
Thanks for putting all that effort in & sharing.
Great vid Dan.
Would love for it to have all of the steps to show people exactly how labour intensive making boards is.
I watched one of these vids once and to make it shorter they ran the whole clip in fast forward from computer design and machining the whole way through to wet rub. Great to show people how much work actually goes into it for an appreciation of the skills of the people involved. It's a great killer for that old line 'oh boards these days just get popped out of moulds or by machines'.
Thanks mate, love it.
Interesting vid Dan, well done!!
Lovely board, we had a surf yesterday with the 2 'toxics' and am now told that I only have the second best DTM SUP ever made![]()
Dan liked your vid ending, very true for some
anytime you feel like a repeat shaping vid,I know i wouldn't find it boring.thanks.
Also finished product weight in at 5.4 kgs super strong to with new glass and even had a 3 layer of glass deck!
its likly the lightest one ive done so far, stoked seems so light and responsive.
^
Are you sealing the blank with resin and microballons or jut glassing straight onto the bare foam?
I've done both on boards I've cobbled together, but I'm not sold on sealing.
Very cool vid Dan,
I agree with CMC few people realise how much work goes into getting the once in a life time shape just right and then into the water.
5.4kg thats light, hope to see it in action soon.
Smokin work
