and if you want the best video out of a dslr - panasonic has them all beat with the gh2 - (except for low light ability where the canons really shine)
check out the results from the etc crop feature which zooms your lens in 3x in 1080p and 5 x in 720 p just by sampling a 1080 or 720 rectangle from the middle of the sensor (goodbye aliasing and moire too)
effectively turns any lens into 2 lengths - eg a 50mm becomes a 50 or 250mm
a 400 mm lens becomes a 400 or 2000mm !
and you can do snap rack focus moves just by pressing on the touch screen.
for video sharpness , autofocus , lack of artifacts etc the panasonics smash it.
my humble little firmware hacked $400 gh1 shoots nicer video than any of $3000 Canon 5d mk2 or a 7ds i have used (except for low light)
But the Canons and Nikons rule for photography.
All of the above mentioned dslrs are brilliant for getting creative - especially with good fast lenses. my 20mm pancake f1.7 is permanently bolted on to my gh 1 .
The Canon l series lenses are the bomb!
at the end of the day even your iphone is an amazing camera (video or still)
its the story that you tell that is about a million times more important than all of the above
