Has anybody else checked out the new Currumbin Alley Reef?

We paddled around it on Sat with a flat swell and it is all reef all of the way to the groyne from the rock.

I have been surfing there for 25 years and never even knew there was flat reef under the sand. One of the guys I was with said he had been there for 45 years and never seen it either, he remembers the Alley before the rock was joined to the land by the groyne and said even then it was always covered up.

This current swell and current may cover it back over but for something so trivial was amazing to see......

Yeah i thought it was seeweed at first too , went for a wave early thismorning at the alley managed to get a few good ones , the wind was up early though. Would have been a good morning for a snaper to currumbin run Lacey!
Ill post some vid later.

Talking to old fisherman they used to catch snapper off it. I can't recall ever seeing it either I'll have to check it out on the weekend.
