Not SUP but may be of interest for anyone contemplating making a crossing on one.

Across Bass Strait (Australia to Tasmania - 375km) in an Outrigger canoe, raising money for Cancer Research and honoring two worthy men, Chris Robinson the original Skipper of the famous Greenpeace "Rainbow Warrior" (which the French Secret Service blew up in New Zealand in 1985). Chris passed away before we left, he was to be our Support boat Skipper. The other is Peter Corbishley, who makes the Outrigger Connection Mirage canoe here in Australia. Pete has cancer and paddled the entire Crossing.

If you like inspirational stories, adventure action with fun and beautiful remote islands, follow us as we relive the Crossing and raise awareness for Cancer Research.

Watch out for the big "hit" on the red canoe in slow-mo on the Deal Island to Killiecrankie leg.

If you look close enough you will see the little GoPro stuck on the rear of the canoe.

Cheers Rambo

If you didn't get a chance to watch the full video, here's a 1 min extract of the Big Hit. Keep in mind that canoe is 44ft long and weighs 155kg + the paddlers weight

Hit the HQ and the Full screen button for best viewing

The full video 27 mins is here

Thanks Randy.. I'm looking forward to watching it.

It must be a bugger when you go for a stroke and you catch nothing but air in your paddle..

Rambo (looking even more like the incarnation of CatWeasel)
...your best work! Masterful! (in a word).
A lot of soul went into it for sure...Liked the:
Gordon Lightfoot track
All round matching of footage to music
Visual FX of the group massage session on the beach
The footage of Deal Is especially
Great to see so many Tony Manton blades (thats right isnt it? He made our Stand Up blades)
The slow-mo of that wave steam-rolling through the canoe broadside...beautiful
...and the last track you chose to finish with.
I reckon a description of a good book is when you get the right author writing about the right subject.
...in this case, the right cinematographer got to document a very special trip across the Strait. Not even Jack McCoy could've done it better.
Well done.

Janita, Cat Weasel was never that handsome .....hahaha ..So should i update my avatar?

Thanks all, the important thing was we raised nearly $50,000 for the Aussie Cancer Research Foundation and increased the awareness. You may remember Chris Robinson as the Aussie guy who hid out on Muroroa Atoll so the French couldn't complete their Nuclear Bomb Testing, bloody legend, did so much for Greenpeace and the environment.

How about a SUP crossing guy's? It's definitely doable if you pick the right days in advance to go and maybe take extra paddlers and swap over a couple times a day.

Next trip is paddling the length of the Great Barrier Reef with Firefighters, Police, Ambo's and the Army to raise awareness of Global Warming. The canoes will be joined together like a Catamaran, so there will be 12 paddling at a time. Scheduled for early next year.

Cheers Rambo
