Well it’s on again. The 2013 “Creek to Creek SUP Race” on Queensland’s Gold Coast. The Creek to Creek as it is known to SUP fanatics has become an iconic Stand up Paddle Race where the race distance, location and categories attract SUP enthusiast of your “Weekend Warriors” to the World’s Best “Elite” Paddling Athletes.

“This SUP race is very technical where every paddler needs to go into it with a race plan. A little like “Cat and Mouse” tactics. Whether you go out hard or maintain a steady pace, you don’t know your result until the final person finishes”.“This is a great concept of racing and I’m sure we will see more and more like this one popping up around the world”, said World Champion Paddler and Gold Coast local Travis Grant.

Held in the tourism capital of Australia, the Gold Coast is quickly becoming a world destination for paddling athletes and a world class water way for Ocean SUP Racing. And while the start and finish of this event comprises two of the best surfing waves in the world of “Currumbin Alley” and “Burleigh Point”, it’s no wonder that events like this draws a large contingent of participants.

Riding high on the back of last year’s event and boasting history making numbers in Australia SUP racing, the record 91 participants are sure to get a boost this year and anticipate up to 150 racers. And while again we have the support of our local council, SUP affiliated stores and general SUP community, we are excited to announce that this year’s event will be supporting the MS Society of Australia so we too can give a little back of our own good fortunes. Also with the introduction of a junior short course division close to the finish arena, the family vibe will be out in force. This event has focused on the grass roots of stand up paddling making it attractive to all ages and abilities.

Watching all of the competitors scattered across the ocean in last year’s race was spectacular. The commitment and stoke of all who raced was awesome. And with the amount of people who entered this year, next year will certainly be huge”. Said 2012 “Creek to Creek” Champion Paul Jackson

So this is an open invitation to all paddlers, waterman, surfers and supporters to get along on the 29th June to the 2013 “Creek to Creek SUP Race” and be part of the stoke and satisfaction of giving something back.

Come along a paddle! No need to be a member of any club or affiliating governing body.
This race is open to anyone of any age and ability.
There are 26 categories to choose from so there is something for everyone.

*3:1 ratio of women to men can develop MS.
*Approximately one in one thousand people have the disease at any given time in Australia.

how is the tide looking at talley ck when paddlers come in.





and lastly- don't let all those elite paddlers go last- its just gives them rabbits to chase

pro class should ride 8 ft x 27 to even it up bit i reckon

Yep, the race size classes are 12'6" and 14' plus. If you have a 13 foot board, you will be in the 14' + division. (As I do know someone who has that size board. hehe)

Should be a massive race this year. So many categories that will suit just about everyone. There is no excuses this year.

Looks like you will be seeded this year too Rowdy! haha

Great event for the amateurs and the elite paddlers. The elite guys were separated last year and will be again. Come on Gold Coasters support the local events

at my level just about everyone is a good one

Don't kid yourself Mark. I've seen you paddle and you're no mug on the water. The thing is, you're a very good paddler but I'm yet to see your entry form!!!lol
A definite podium finish for you Lacey!

Entries are starting to flow in with a lot of new names of various age categories and board size.

And among this, I can confirm some of the Elite Paddlers that will be battling it out this year. O'Brian, Jackson, Grant, Jensen fresh from their European Sojurn.....and hoping to see the current State dual champ Lincoln Dews and Aussie Rep Kelly Margetts take to the line. Not only will these guys will impress but a heap of the clubbie talent that have made the progression to SUP that are also in the mix of Tanyn Lyndon, Jayden Jensen, Brad Rogers and company. Man, the Elite Pro class is going to be scorching hot.

And not to forget the girls in action with Karla v Angie v Sondra v Molly and then looking at other categories with a heap of girls that are paddling incredibally fast. The Elite Pro class will be nuts.

And then there's the "Old Boys" of Dorries, Jones, Johnstone, Chapman, Walker and I can go on and on.

But when I look across the board at all the other categories, just paddlers giving this race a hit out, maybe their first time or a second year veteran, you know times and rivalary will be fierce. And I guess the beauty of this sport is that once the battle has passed and left on the water, it all doesn't matter but the stoke of the day and the camaraderie that brings us all together in one place for a few beers and a snag sanga afterwards is what it is all about!

Hopefully the weather is perfect and this will be one of the biggest races Australia has ever seen!!! It is a perfect distance for anyone and it would be great to get the whole SUP community involved!! Hell even Lacey is going to do it!!
