Just set up my Naish 9'6" with the above set up and thought some might be interested in different pad options. The bulk of the set up is the SUP pad set which retails for $129 with the tail pad going for $60. More expensive than the Naish and the JL by a little but it's nice.

Paddled it this morning and the traction is the best I've paddled on yet. Thinner than the Jimmy Lewis and Naish pads so impact protection probably isn't as good but the thin feeling is sweet. Somehow feels a bit more direct and crisp but then that's probably just because I had some fun waves this morning.

Could be time for a Casso deck grip review?

Actually that should have read $139 instead of $129 and I also rechecked my pricelist and the Naish Pad retails for $199 so no difference at all in price. Oops.

It's on my new board as we need the other one as a full time demo given the interest in it.

The SUP pad set is 4 piece with the Retro fish set being 6 pieces. I didn't need to use all the fish bits so I cut up some of the unused bits to help make some more width to suit the board.

Went out at cold Long Reef this morning with a cold 10-12 knot Souwester blowing. Wind chill was pretty bad but once I got a couple of nice ones I stopped caring. Turned out to be a lot more fun than I thought 5 minutes in to the session.

Give me a shout when you want to head out for a spin with the sucker. I just need it for tomorrow morning as it should be that little bit nicer with the wind heading NW. Hopefully the swell hangs in there a little bit longer.

I have a brochure for the Naish boards and it indicates the 9'6" board comes with EVA deck supplied. I am guessing EVA deck is the deckpad, so why buy another deck grip? Is the one supplied not so good or am I barking up the wrong tree on this?

The Naish does come with good deckpad and I've no problem with it at all. Just trying the grip out to see what it's like as not all boards come with grip. The Naish just happens to be the board I'm using at the moment so it was the best one to try the grip on.

I hadn't waxed the nose in that shot but have done now. Showing that much timber up front left me looking pretty stupid a couple of times so I put some on. Got a bit sick of slipping off paddling on to fuller waves as I was walking forward to try get the nose to drop earlier.
