Club Day this Sunday

WIN a Carbon Starboard Paddle.
Come to the next club day and be in the running to WIN a Carbon Starboard Paddle.

Win SUP Wall Racks or a Little Bro Kaddy form Quiver Kaddy during the Surf Comps.

That's right we are giving all this away away.

You must be a financial member before the club day to be in the running.

For details on how to be a financial member please click the link below:

http://www.sunshinecoastsup.com/index.php?p=1_7_Membership

Okay this is going to be fun. We are giving the paddle away during a race. Actually it is a "Dash and Dig" race (concept adapted from an idea from Peasy). All paddlers will line up about one kilometre off shore (greater distance for boards greater then 12'6 and shorter distance for surf boards). It is a race to the beach then a run into a enclosed area. The prize object will be buried in the sand. First to find the luck object wins it.

On top of this we will also be awarding a great Carbon Paddle from F-one to a member who renewed their membership before the 30th of September. Membership number will be randomly drawn at the club day.

Thanks to F-One, Quiver Kaddy and Starboard for these great prizes.

Following this race there will be a club surf contest.

Club Day will be:

October 14th

Primary Location: Noosa Access 11

Back Up Location: Maroochydore north of Maroochydore SLSC

This will confirmed on Saturday

Time: Surf comp starts at 7am

Club Points for Race and Surf comps but you must be a financial member.

Though there is a lack of surf the club day is still on at Noosa. There is no surf anywhere this evening. Be there to win one of the two paddles listed above. You must be financial to compete for them or the Quiver Kaddy gear.

I here Jonsey and Lincoln have other commitments so this could be the month to get points on them in the club comps.

I will organise some kids races also for a bit of fun.... Might win this one

Cheers

One of the best club days to date. A lot of fun and a god turn up. Made extra special by some $1500 of the great prizes that we provided from some of our sponsors below.

The day was in Noosa with the following schedule.

There was little surf but still enough to have a muck around expression session.
Surf Board Race
Dash and Dig. This idea looked hilarious and played out so much simpler in my mind

Juniors BOP

1st: Kai Roberts
2nd: Bailey Day

Women s BOP

1st Jayne Ryeland (5th overall)
2nd: Looaraine Paciulio

Open Mens:

Trevor Tunnington
Ryan Keck
Nathan Day
Marcel Depaula
Peter Turner
Anthony Swan
Scott Roberts
Andrew Seeley

Over 40s Mens

Peter Turner
Anthony Swan
Scott Roberts
Andrew Seeley

Surf Expression Session was a great laugh with people switching boards mid wave, Tandem riding, and even using 2 boards at once. Final prize winners for the expression session was:

Prizes Supplied by Quiver Kaddy (www.quiverkaddy.com)

Little Bro Quiver Kaddy went to Trevor Tunnington
Quiver Kaddy Sup Wall Racks went to Ryan Keck
Quiver Kaddy Nose Cone went to Mark Taylor.

More results soon. Off for a swim with the kids. Love living in Qld

Right...

After the expression session we decided to have another race but this time on the short boards which ranged from 8' to 11'6". This was fun and some on shorter boards smashed out a good race.
Top three men were:
Scott Roberts
Trevor Tunnington
Dave Mitchell

Top Three Women were:
Jayne Ryeland
Alison Krone
Katie Nawrath

After the Short Board Race we decided to race the "Dash and Dig" This had a great Paddle supplied by Starboard as the main prize and a Paddle Cover from Sunshine Coast Kitesurfing / SUP Fun for the runner up. This race style played out so much easier in my mind. Thought the concept should be sold to the personal Trainer Commando on the Biggest Loser as the ultimate torture test. The idea was simple. Get my kids to bury 10 numbered tennis balls in a 10m x 5m area, Paddle out about a kilometer (less for the juniors or those on surf SUPs, race to the beach, dig up the balls and then eliminate the numbers by a draw until you have a final winner. Simple huh...
Well.. the paddle sprint was the easy bit, we hit the beach not far apart and ran up to the marked area. Started digging and pile the sand we dug behind us potentially making any hidden ball behind twice as deep. I should have only told the kids to bury them hand deep instead of elbow depth that they did.
about 20 minutes into the dig we had found about 4 balls. One member had gone back to his ute and got a shovel. Everyone else was still head down and bum up digging madly for the chance to win the $500 paddle. After 6 balls were found I asked to call it time and draw from the ones we had but quitting wasn't in the mind of many. After 30 minutes there were still three balls buried and we called time. I think Trevor has a video on it that he will post latter.
We then went to the draw eliminating one at a time until only 2 remained. Ryan Keck was the winner of the Starboard paddle and John Nawrath was the winner on the paddle cover.
Mat Colefax who is a sponsor of our club with F-one was there to award one luck clum member a 4500 paddle for paying their membership within the first 30 days of the year. The winner of this was Ian Borland.

Great day and we got to see the new 14' Naish 23" limited edition. This board is going to be a weapon on the Lake. It will be good to see its times compare. I believe Kai Lenny will be out soon to do the Lake with us and bust out a time on it.

If he beats me it will only be because of the board

Photos / Vids and club points posted soon.

Cheers Jayne and Jonsey. It is a large team effort from a great crew who bring gear along, set up, pack up and generally just get along and have fun. Your part of that.

Thank god the kids didn't bury the paddle

Arrh bugger, I would have loved to come along to this and meet up with a view to joining the club but I thought it was on down at Maroochydore (I'm at Noosa).

Ah well, maybe next time.
