Just got a new santa fe and now waiting to get the racks for it. The car aerial is in the center of the roof at the back. I've noticed territories and other cars have the aerial in the same spot. Does anyone else have a car with the aerial in the middle and is there enough clearance over the aerial for a sup as they are so wide? The aerial if flexible and will bend down a bit but I'm worried it won't bend far enough. I've spoken to an auto electrician who's suggestion was to drill a 20mm hole in my board to go over the aerial! Thanks for the advice jenkz!!
in my experience the aerial will have enough flex, i say give it ago, plus if it does break then its easy enough to resort to these other ready available ideas.
Unscrew the arial when you put the board on and replace with with 2 coat hangers twisted together to make a big enough loop to fit around the board and stick an end in the arial socket.
I have a corolla with the aerial in the same spot but its a bendy one, so i dont have to worry about it, it just bends under the board, if yours is the stiff version you can buy the bendy ones from auto shops like supercheap, just for another option
Some punk snapped my aerial off one night, I've been sporting the latest in aerial design ever since. Many an aerial connoisseur has commented on the aerodynamic and aesthetic values this aerial possesses.
