Well what a day!

The dark horse in the 3 km sprint got up and won and Camo did it in spades.

If your looking for an extremely fast flat water race board and your in the 70 -80 kg range the Starboard pin proved its place today and then some!

I believe there was 37 competitors in the contested race 30 men and 7 women.

The mens top 5 Cameron Hoskin 1st, Matt Lumley 2nd, Dave Hunt 3rd, Danny Sheppard 4th QLD, Adam Snow 5th.

Team Snow 3 in the top 15 all on snow boards! Adam 5th Dean about 7th and Jarrod 14th. Top Effort.

In the womens Sue Sheppard 1st, Rea SUP Bus 2nd and Kristi Page 3rd.

After coming second in the main race Matt Lumley hit the water in the 100m sprints like a man on a mission and secured 1st place, Adam Snow 2nd

The 4 x 50m mixed relay was won by Matt Lumley, DJ, Jonanthon Cowcher and Kristi Page.

The Pet race stuffed, manufactured, blown up division was won by Dean Snow.

The Pet race live pet was won by Nick and Matty the dog!

Awesome day fantastic to meet the whole crew and especially Sue and Danny!
Sue has confirmed she will be back to defend next year!

More details to come.....

Phill

PTwoody cleaned up the Australia Day theme by a country mile outstanding effort!

Great day. Thanks to the SUP Bus crew and all the sponsors. But especially Oakley for the fancy dress prize. Oh, and also thanks to the lady wife for happily making me looking like a clown.

Hey did anyone have a stop watch on Cam's 3km time?

Congrats to all winners and to all that participated!

Thanks Mick, Phil and your team for organising such a great event. It was obvious from the vibe everyone there
had a great day. I can't wait till next year. Maybe I can get the wife to man the BBQ but she did the social paddle
today and has already said she will be back next year.

Cammo, great effort in the main event! Stoked for you! Thanks for the laughs when you head butted the pier
and fell in. Hilarious!! It might have knocked your cap off but lucky you got a new one as part of your prize.

Got to say I'm still a bit surprised to have won, must have been the Starboards
extra 6",was close racing between the front four,a couple of times sitting behind the naish boards I found the Pin would catch the wake and ride up straight onto the tail of the board in front but I've got a long streak of naish yellow along the tail of the Pin to show the favour was also returned, the pushing and shoving at the front sure added to the excitement during the race.
Thanks to the Supbus crew for a top event,Sunlover Holidays for the prizes,Oakley for the cap and Brenno for organising the SupVic BBQ,
cheers,
Camo.

Oh yeah - props to the SUP Vic dudes manning the BBQ.

And also the life savers - thankfully their skills were not put to the test today.

Heh Mike and Phil, well done on such a fantastic and well organized day, what I love about this sort of event, and the sport, is that even bodgies like me can fair crack at competing against the SUP elite whilst having a great amount of fun. There was a distinct down to earth atmosphere amongst the whole SUP crew that stands it apart from "other" competitions of different genre's,
also Phil, ricky the wonder dog won the pet event, although quite humble, he is seen in one of the photos listed, doing a victory lap, thanks

Here's my pictures starting with a 7am shot all loaded and ready to go with both 12' and 14' Glides.

I got a perfect parking spot right behind the SupBus (now a van).

Brendan has the SupVic barbie fired up nice and early.

Dean and his boys turned up.. Here's Dean with his newie.. I think it's about 4-5 kgs..

These were the boards that I wanted to see.. Dean, Adam and Jared all with matching boards.. How good do they look standing up like that.

The tents started popping up and the beach was soon covered in SUP boards.

Even the Uli boards were there.. and looking good.

The sky cleared and the racing started.

Here's Matt Lumley in a heat for the sprint races on G Boards.

Look at the lead within seconds.

Another easy-peasy win that puts him into the final.

Brendan relaxing in the sun.

Sue and Danny enjoying the beautiful Melbourne weather.

Sue and Luicy.

MickV and family.

The only person there allowed to walk on the bottom of one of Deans boards.

Peter and his beautiful granddaughter.

Here's Lumers leading in the sprint final.

..and winning it.

Well done Rea for winning the womens sprint final.

the SupVic guys kept the snags coming.

Here's Phil getting ready to hand out some prizes.

Cam winning the big one.

Paul another winner.

Phil and Ricky winning the live pet race prize.

John and Maddy runner up in the pet race.

Lumers wins the Big Kahuna skate board and big stick.

Kev's a winner.

Glen's a winner.

Ronnie Adam and Jonathan also winners.

The day ended with the SUP boards being replaced with kites.. What a great Australia day.

DJ

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all you guys involved in putting on this fantastic event. It was one of the best SUP events I've been to. Very professional run but with a really relaxed atmosphere. I had a great day. It was great to see all the families out there and the kids just loving it.

It was fantastic to finally meet some of the names you see here on Seabreeze and everyone was so friendly and helpful.

A huge thank you to DJ for being a great host to Danny & I. He stalked our tram all the way from the tennis to St Kilda the day before on his motorbike. I'm riding the tram and some guy dressed in his leather jacket and black helmet on a bike is waving to me as we're flying along. I knew straight away it was DJ cause he looked just like his picture !!

DJ met us at the St Kilda Pier, walked us out and pointed out some penguins hiding in the rocks as the sun set. Thanks DJ for your hospitality that afternoon and then again on race day.

Thank you for lining up boards for both Danny & I to use. He actually gave up his race board to me at the last minute and rode his 14' taking him out of the eligibilty for prizes. A true gentleman and a fantastic sport.

It was great to also meet Phil, Jonathon, Kev, Dave, Dean and of course Mike, Phil and Rea from St Kilda SUP Bus and their team.

I'm hoping we can come back again next year. For anyone thinking of going down for this event, I highly recommend it. We flew down very early the day before, went to the tennis all day, stayed at St Kilda that night and then went to the event the next day and flew out that night. A great package deal !!

Thanks guys.... and I (a Queenslander) even got sunburnt in Melbourne !!
