Well I had seen Brooko's Surf Shapes 8'6 and it looked great but Brooko rips and I am still a Kook so I figured hmmm not likely.

Today I had the oportunity to try Camo Hosks 9'4 x 29 ish Surf Shapes out and I can only say it was a blast.

The board with my Wide A$$ on it (105kg) needs a juicy wave but we had plenty of those.

I caught 2 absolute smokers all the way to the beach and it rips.

The board is quite stable when you stand on it for a pulled nose pulled tail board, how ever it has a feel about it and you just know it will be loose on the wave.

I was able to put my foot right on the nose to take off in the wind yet it didnt pearl in the slightest. Late take off was also a dream.

At first I was over powering the board with brute force. I soon found out you only needed gentle corrections to get the best out of this board. It ripped bottom turns with ease and came of the top even in the wind without a problem.

I would have to say this was the most impressive shortboard SUP I have ever ridden it was a total eye opener.

I did try to pack it on my roof but Camo came and retrieved it.

I have to say Camo you have one very very sweet ride my friend.

Phill

Hey BP,

Rod Hocker put some magic in that baby, I have 23kg more motivation for it than Camo and wow it rips.

No stress cracks but you can break the sound barrier rippin off the bottom.

The swing weight like LSD's creation is " hmmm what swing weight"

You think about the turn or cuttie and bam its done.

So you will have to ask Camo nicely I think he has some pic.

Actually we had 3 goofies Revvin is goofy too! I started to think the whole world was running backwards.

Brendon and I almost had special cuddles on one wave I went right and he went left, man we had some serious speed off the bottom and then pumpin down the line and luckily both pulled out! It so easily could have ended in tears ha.

I was lucky enough to have a go as well. I thought my board was loose (Oxbow 9'6") and it is compared to other boards I have ridden but Cam's board was on another level. I have never been able to hit the lip on my backhand like I did on this thing. I can only imagine getting it out in some powerful lefts (forehand).

I'm going to have a crack at making my own board soon and this board has given me plenty of ideas. Can't wait!

Yeah Phill that was close. I could see you coming before you even looked up so we were always going to be ok. I was going to call starboard! Same thing happened with Cam and we worked out if it happened again he would go low and me high but never had the chance.

Hey Cam,

Glad you had some more fun it was a great day! I eventually went out at OG and got a couple of waves and my A$$ handed to me a few times as well becuase OG just wont hold any size.

Brendon was great to catch up should do it more often, we certainly had a great crew and thats what matters.

Hopefully the swell will hold for another morning session tomorrow then back to the Grind Monday.

At least we got out and about

Session was on Party Duties

Great that your day was good and glad to hear that you guys have something interesting to talk about. I ended up at Zapper Point? at mid tide - I think this is my new favourite spot - thanks Brendan.

The swell dropped significantly since last night and it was quite windy, but I think I got some of my very best rides there today. Ended up with a big ding in my board somewhere in my travels, but all's good as it's getting repaired. Might be time to finally put some deck grip on her.

Oliver, The swell was the only variable I was worried about for down there. Sounds like there was still enough to get some good waves.

Cam, I'd be happy to get a couple tomorrow morning on your board if you want to film? [}:)]

Hey PB,

I still think what I have is great, they are longboard sups and surf that way.

The Surf Shapes is in a different league and will suite different needs, thats what a quiver is all about.

I could rip on Cams board but only in big juicy waves and so far this year that has happened twice, what would I do for the other 48 weeks.

Camo gets away with it becuase he is 20kg lighter than me.

His board will also surf very differently for me than it does for him as I have extra weight to bury the rail etc.

Horses for courses

Hey Camo,

Thanks for putting up the video and for the loan of the board it was awesome.

Sounds like MAMBO will be going off we are all looking forward to it.

I hear I am doing some wind surfing so there will be new ground broken or maybe bones and WTF is double forward barrel roll. Session says if you can sup then its a piece of cake

One thing I forgot to mention, the second wave i got on Cammo's board the thing top
turned so quick the fins let go into a little tail slide. I struggle to get the tail to let go
on my regular 6ft fish!

Honestly though I don't think it was the power of my top turn but more likely some
bigger fins might be needed. Would probably give it more drive as well. Felt good
though!!

Apparently there is a overall, including wind, kite & SUP. So my car might be pretty full of gear in order to give JB a run for his money!

Great to catch up and have a surf with Bnaccas, Camo, Kristi and Phil.

Hey Camo you didnt put my stagger to the nose to belly flop on the vid.

Had a couple of the best waves I've ridden since taking up SUP today and even a couple of cranky kids and a pile of housework when I got home couldnt wipe the cheshire cat grin off my mug.

Cheers.

I reckon these boards really surf like a skateboard, shortboard effect, they really do turn on a dime.
I think putting bigger fins would defeat the purpose, but then I guess it wouldnt hurt to try
