I want two boards.

For flat water I want a board I can:
- comfortably carry the 800m from home to the bay
- be no more than 12' so it fits in my garage
- storage for snacks and water and camera and minimal stuff
- do all the flat water cruising stuff
- paddle into a 10 knot breeze and feel like I'm making some progress
- turn and get some glide on 2' runners
- carry it home again.

I don't want a rudder system and I don't want to have to do downwinders to get the fun of riding runners.

For the surf I want:
- a board about 9'6" x 30" so it fits inside my car.
- stable enough to comfortably wait for waves in cross-chop
- fast enough to catch small swells and paddle 1km or so to adjacent breaks
- mostly tuned for trim riding but I should be able to move the fins about for higher performance surfing
- built-in carry stuff so I can get to and from some of the breaks at the foot of cliffs.

Hey Gorgo.. Try and make it down to Torquay this Saturday and have a go on my Naish Glide.. It sounds like just the board for you.

It will be interesting to see if Starboard bring out a competitor to the Glide.. I can't wait to see Stuey's new 12'6" board.

I'm a happy chappy with my three boards.

I'd be happy with just my Glide and 11'4" but my daughter loves the 11'6"..She calls the 11'4" the wobbly board (because she fell off it the other day).

I paddled my new 11'6" AST on the Yarra yesterday at Studly Park and it's a great allround board that you can teach friends on.

If I could only have one board that would be it (the AST)... Can you tell I'm a bit of a Naish fan..

I'm hoping designers will see this forum and we'll see all the good stuff built into future boards.

The Naish 9'6" is too wobbly in cross chop. It does fit pretty well in my car.

The Glide looks ideal for the flat but it needs the deck inserts added for carrying and the cargo nets.

I've got a good allrounder but using a single board results in too many compromises, particularly in choppy flat water.

I had the 9 6" naish out in 28kmh winds the other day, cross offshore with side chop and Im pretty heavy at 103 kgs.

Dj I wonder how that naish glide would go in big waves as a gun, it has an awesome plan shape and outline, just in photos it looks the closest thing to a surfboard i have seen yet.

In addition to this I want a small built in waterproof area in the deck where I can store my keys, ipod and phone so I don't have to worry about where I store these things when I'm on a paddle.

I have a Commodore wagon and the Starboard 9'8 x 30" is a perfect fit with the back seat down and the nose of the board between the front seats.
Have you tried this board Gorgo?
This board is super stable and very easy to paddle into waves. It also has the FCS side fin option and a fin box for the centre fin which allows you to move the fin back or fowards to either stiffin up the board for straighter paddling or loosen it up for some tail sliding.
A big board option could be the Starboard 12'6 x 30"? But this probably wont fit in your garage?
It has a built in carry handle. 6 holes on the front of the board for a storage net to be fixed to. And believe it or not it rides small waves very easily! I took it out yesturday in a 15-20knot seabreeze downwinder. passing all the reefs on the way and getting some smokin' little lefts. Dont expect to get vertical on this board but it certainly does ride waves.

Yep the 9 6" naish is a pig to stay still on if your heavy, in side chop and wind. I just dont stop paddeling.

Some days I have felt like pulling out the axe as well, geez it surfs well but

Greenroom...I love my starboard 12-6 and 9-8 too. Great boards both. I'd love to see how the glide and Starboard 12-6 compare.
