Drove to the beach today and was confronted by this. Fairly minor fall out really amongst the troops. One snapped leash and a possible broken nose.

Sphincter tightening to say the least, you know you are alive

Haha, I paddled out at Yallingup today before lunch. It was BIG! I figured there was something wrong when I was the only SUP out and remained that way for the midday session.

Swells were moving fast in deep water, the mission was 1) Getting out - I apparently provided plenty of oohs and ahh's for the crowd as I got creamed by a few larger waves. 2) paddling fast enough to get down the face on these monsters with an offshore breeze and a fat leggie. 3) Coping with the bottom turn on a 9'2" Allwave LOL - Definately out of my comfort zone as I was paddling hard perched some 12+ feet above the pit on a lip which didn't have enough to get me over against the leash and wind. I secretly pulled out of a few which had me crappin' my daks on take off.

I tried to get onto a few of the main break lefts which wasn't possible despite numerous attempts, rights had similar appeal but equally hard to get on. The bubble was difficult due to the pack sitting on the take off.

I did manage to ride a couple big enough to top up my adrenaline quota for the week. I can speak from experience and say that the Allwave, although ridable, was never designed for waves of this size! It bounced it's way down the face and wasn't impressed with the turn command. I survived unscathed but was wishing I had the semi gun.

Here's a couple of quick pics on the iphone before paddling out. Not necessarily large ones but were representative of the general goings on.

Was real hard work. Cory struggled on a 10 6 JL gun, Dean found the 10 baby gun hard work and my ever reliable 10er was out of its depth. Was fun in a perverse sort of way
