What is the biggest wave you have ever SUPped?
Alternatively
What is the longest D/W you have done?

Personally the biggest wave is 2ft as I live in Perth and it has been a below average summer for swell. The longest D/W was The Doctor race which I think was about 20km.

The easy part is surfing the bigger waves . The harder part is getting out there

Rich, Ronnie, Dean, Adam, Krisiti and I have supped Damo's at least OH x 2. The boys were all surprised how well Krisiti surfed it on the imperial.

I have seen Dean sup Bells at OH x 2 + it was pretty solid

We also had a smokin session at PRK recently that had to be 1.5 to 2 x OH with rides approching 400m

I reckon Fernanda would also be up there. Check out the photos of her at Boaties on their website.

Biggest wave: Around 6' on my original "carbon/epoxy" DC11. Hopefully this year I can start charging bigger waves, but will need to get Dale to custom build a PU board for this.

Longest DW: 70km on my DC16, together with Dale Chapman (March 2009). On the next big DW we are going to try crack the 100km mark (probably in April). We will move over to the new DC14 type design, extended out to either 16/17' long.

Biggest Wave = Triple Over Head

"Even though it was much bigger than my level of conscious reasoning could comprehend, I paddled my guts out and got to the top of the lip just as it started to pitch. A weird calmness came across me. I'm not sure if it was the beautiful weather, the smoothness of the double black diamond run ahead of me, the blueness of the water, the fact that a world champion and the heaviest tow chargers in Sydney were watching (and hooting) me in anticipation - but it was surprisingly fun. Usually, I would have just soiled my steamer in that situation. This was the biggest wave I had taken off on in my 30 years of surfing - and I was calm and focussed! I thought some of the drops over at Butterbox earlier were long but this was ridiculous. Very steep and the bottom of the wave looked like it was miles away. This really was a mountain of water that I was riding. A few minutes later, about half way down the face, I gingerly twisted my body to look down the line. I don't think my little adrenaline flooded heart enjoyed the view I was presented with. The wave had walled up to the point of starting to suck and it was feathering a long way down the line from where I was currently standing. Oh crap, this is serious. All my options were evaluated in a split second. I could bail out, dive deep and let that mountain of whitewater behind me, mow me down. I could straighten out and try and outrun it - I am on a 12 footer, but then again this is a triple overhead wave. I decided to go for my third option, draw the line, lock in, think fast thoughts and hope for the best. A bit of pressure on the inside rail and 12-0 Gun redirects, set for the safety route to the shoulder. I'm crouched down, I don't know what the paddle is doing (I don't care about that right now). The board is going fast now, I mean really fast. Really, really fast. It is skimming the ripples coming up the face but holding really steady. I can hear the sound of the whitewater behind me - it is loud, deafeningly loud. There is a beautiful curve to the face - due to its size I can see right from the flat surface in front of the wave, all the way up the face to near the lip. A perfect curve. I could see the curve change shape a number of times indicating the different sections I was racing through. I think there were three major times where, again, I though I wasn't going to make it but just held on anyway. Then, finally, the curve started to straighten out - that only means one thing, I'm through the steepest parts of the wave. Maybe I'll be OK after all! I'm still going at mach speed and straighten up a bit to look around. Yep I've made it, woo hoo. The volume of that thunderous whitewater has subsided and I'm home free. I pull into a big cutback, now that I'm more in my comfort zone and ride out the wave until it dies into the channel."

Longest Downwinder = 22 km (racing conditions)

"It was a fun race but VERY hard with minimal good runners. The 15 knot ENE seabreeze, a confused swell and lots of backwash bouncing off the rocks (for those of us that took the inside line) made things tricky and wore us out quickly due to the extra balance required to just stay upright. Fairy penguins, whales, blue bottles and purple people eaters were seen on the trip down the coast."

And a new category:

Longest time on a wave = 2:58 minutes

2.58m thats a long ride , best long ride i have had was at the Alley caught one out side the rock and finished at the beach at Laceys , good size too.No ware near 2.58 though.

Biggest wave , massive in my own mind , probably 6 ft in reality.

Longest down wind 10K,hardest upwind 8k on 10.6.

The waves Courts &n Damon surf are real heavy mo foes, these guys would take the cake I think for sure, (one pictured is a small one ) Damon also won the xxl shortboard biggest wave ridden that year in the world (check it out, its in south west wa) maybe that's a good thread for your legion & doggie guy, a shredder on a sub and a shortboard!

Certainly not the biggest SUP wave ever surfed but enough to get my full attention. Thats me in the red shorts trying to act nonchalant whilst crapping myself and my good mate Ant does the squirty poo assisted exit stage right! Photo by Wesso Bowler.

Probably about another three quarters of a k out to sea. Absolutely the last wave on the West Coast. If you look real close you can see Harold Holt waving in the background!

You get a real good look at the traffic going buy lol

Sorry Hilly Not trying to give you the bronze. Dont you hate it when sleep, work and surf eat into your Seabreeze time. In answer to your question, yes I did!
Actually turned out to be a bit of a burger. Believe it or not it was not quite big enough to be breaking properly! Enough though for me to have adrenalin squirting out of my ears for a week. Have seen this place at twenty plus and the only way to describe it is lethal. When the swells up and the tide is into it it has a take off zone about the same size as the MCG [substitute WACA if that works for you] Very easy to disappear out there. Any way heres another shot from Wesso Bowler
