Just wondering which brands or styles of Sup deck grip works best and why? Especially after a light weight grip for surf Sup. Happy to use standard shortboard tail pad. Pimp away

currently use On a mission slater trout, very comfy, if I wasn't so finicky I'd just use wax and wide tail pad. Don't use sb tail pad too narrow, there's others specifically for sup

As a retro fit deck grip you can't beat the OAM (on a mission). Production grip that comes on the board the new JP is amazing , when you first start to use it almost hurts your feet. The difference is that is moulded and not cut so it last and doesn't draw in water so they stay super light. Pretty sure Fanatic is the same.

With the cut or routed deck grips they are not sealed like the moulded ones , so that's why your board sinks when you pull it out of it's cover even if you have wiped the board down. The new Corebans wear really fast same as the early McTavish and you will need to wax them.

The attached pic is one of a grips I did over 5 years ago. Back then no boards came with grips , it takes time to do it but it saves weight and helps drain the water from the deck , a bit hard on your guts but your feet stick like sh!t to blanket , plus it's made from scraps. It's still as good as the day I did it , just had to replace a triangle here and there.

Great job on the grip, how long did it take Piros?

Most of the grips took one long night and a bottle of rum , except for the last one , that was a few foggy nights. That's not me in the pic BTW.

It's a 12-0 and yeah I so regret selling that board but it it has gone to a good home in Byron .It's a Ron House custom , the same guy who shaped Laird Hamilton's Rhino Chasers.
