Hey Rob,
Would love a bit of a run down on how these type of races are run for the benefit of other states to run similar evernts? Course type etc?
Scotty I can really see this style of racing taking off big time here in Aus. You basically have a M shaped course taking people in and out of the surf break mutiple times , with a short run around the flags which are on the beach.Fantastic for the spectators all the action is straight out front.
The reason I got so many shots was I didn't have to move either so that makes it great for the sponsors and media teams as it all happens in the one spot. Scotty's course is posted on his original post and that's basicaly the course that was run.
Hey Rob,
Firstly awesome vid smokin work.
I totally agree with you the BOP style of racing is primo for the average joe and the elite.
It allows all on the beach to engage in the action and that is a primary concern with families etc as it makes it inclusive and a day out.
Secondly the boards are all the same length and at 12.6 are affordable, easy to handle, store, transport and paddle. Races and race series become predictable to a degree one board suites all.
If the newbies on the course get left behind its not an issue as its in a contained area and easy to support and manage.
Wind direction can be catered for as only some of the legs will be effected.
Media love it for the obvious reasons you outlined.
Its a winner all round.
