BULA VINAKA - STOKED got an email from my California friends they are making a custom surfboard for my best Fijian mate Ulai I love the bloke and I don't mean that in a gay way. I gave Ulai a go of my 6'6” and he loved it I new he would, but every time he caught a wave I'd cringe as Ulai breaks boards. Ulai only surfs borrowed boards that the guest leave for him that don't suit his surfing as Ulai's a big Fijian the gentle giant. Ulai would be in the top 3 off Fijian surfers he charges Cloud Break I've seen Ulai cop some hideous flogging at Cloud Break (Help Me Please Mr Wizard ). Ulai is competing in the Tavarua/Namotu WCT Volcom Fiji PRO June 3 - 15, 2012
I'll be back in Fiji in 4 weeks can't wait to see the look on Ulai's face when Greg gives him the board ( be like a little grommet at christmas ) STOKED

That JC looks miles too small for him, even at 6,6 the SD model would sink!!

What size board will it be?

Hey downwinders, do you know, is this the guy who had his photo on the cover or centre of surfing life back in the 90s getting drilled at huge coludbreak, name looks similar and I'll always remeber the photo cause I went there not long after with the fear of god in me.. As you would say.. Help me please mister wizard... But as you know is an awesome place..

The JC is a guests board left behind, thats right too small for Ulai

Ulai's new board is a 6'6'' - 11 1/4 - 18 7/8 - 14 1/8 - 2 1/2
its the same size board that Sam Egan shapes for me and its the same dimensions that JS shapes for Luke Egan rides, all 3 off as are 90kg
The only difference is Ulai's board has 6oz on the bottom and two 6oz on the deck the board will be heavy so hopefully Ulai does not break it.

Maybe think of a thicker stringer to as he surfing very heavy waves, that 6,6 would be perfect

Don't Know I'll ask Ulai when I see him next month, but if you've seen the Endless Sumer 2 movie Ulai is the little grommet dropping a coconut on Wingnuts head classic

I think you could be right esai ?? Sounded write when I read it, ask around he was youngish and it was a monster he was just getting thrown from the lip.. Great photo, google has let me down so I couldn't find it.
