Hi guys!
Looking at getting a custom surfing sup and just wanting to get some feedback as to who is considered to be the in-form shaper or shapers at the moment in terms of design, quality and most importantly boards that perform?

Add Peasey (secret agent) and Dan McDonald (DMS, Honolua and C4)

Also Noel from All Above Board in Lennox is designing some great boards.

All of the Shapers above on this page are amazing and will give you greater value than buying a generic. Go with the one that gives you the most time and input.

scott Mckercher is technically a shaper - he does all the wave r and d for Starboard and has been developing shapes for decades

define shaper.

Should be called designers unless its done by hand from the start. That is for SUP LB & SB. Most of the cutting is done by machine and then finished by hand.

If you are from Vicco you should have a look at Simon Forwards shapes. Nice guy, bloody nice boards and you get to sit down with him and have some input into your shape. If you are on the East Coast talk to Triggers about a custom shape and it will also go through Simon.

Yellow one on the bottom is for sale if anyone's interested.
Cheers

Yeah! I know Triggs and the boys as I live on the Peninsula. I thought that Simon only did short boards, but good to know that he is doing Sups as well, because his surfboards are pretty well regarded. The board on top in your picture looks awesome, are they polyester or epoxy? eps blanks or normal blanks? How's their weight? Thanks for the tip! Leon.

EPS Blanks and epoxy glass. Bottom one was glassed by Triggers and is bomb proof but a tad heavier than I wanted. Green one glassed by Cusso and is as light as. Could'nt tell you what the exact weights are but they are comparable to just about anything else I have seen except DTM's (seriously light) and Dean Snows (seriously freaky light)

Ok, even though he's my brother I have to give a pimp to Dan's boards, DTM.

I started out on a 10' Jimmy Lewis then Dan made me a 9 footer. Man that thing went like a rocket! So fast, abit beyond my abilities at first and I just got it mastered this summer when he gave me his hand me down 8'8''. Oh my God! This thing is a whole new ball game. It has completely changed SUP for me and he's not getting it back! And as I said this is his old hand me down board!

He has a website now too; www.dtmsup.com

If you're after completely unbiased ( non sibling!) review ask Steve down at Merimbula what he thinks of his new board too

Yeah, I will 'pimp' Dan's boards as well - even though he is one of my best mates if they weren't good I wouldn't be riding them.

Like nothing you will have ridden to date - only SUPs I know of with a high performance rocker combined with a performance outline. A couple of Guys in Vicco are riding them I think (or have ordered them).

Apparently Steve in Merimbula is going nuts on one.

I know Bruce Monty built one for a local up this way. Nice lookin board but I don't recon he could compete pricewise with the imports.
Im guessin the small volume of boards would make it too hard.

Dan's website doesn't appear to be working: "Firefox can't find the server at www.dtmsup.com"
