just ordered it, had the version 1 since they came out and reckon they are a great bit of gear, did you have problems with yours ?

Well, I have to say that I am a bit disappointed... I have used my Search GPS for a long time - I love it. But there were some features I wished it had. I even swapped lots of email with that Sean guy (quoted in the PR) and another guy at Rip Curl - I was impressed that they took an interest in my ideas. But after reading the manual for the new version, it does not seem that they implemented any of them.

As far as I can see, it is the same as the original, smaller, with a different way of displaying the tide, and info on the surf conditions. (And you can use it to track other activities without the software counting them as surfs.) The improvements they made are good, but I don't think it enhances its capability in the surf.

It is possible that there are new features that are not documented in the manual, so maybe I am judging too quickly.
