Don't know if there are any SUP breezers out there, but I'm heading in that direction today/tomorrow & was wondering if there are any waves? Places to go & stay away from? Cheers

Thought that might be the case, probably better off staying in Port the extra day.

Still open to suggestions from the locals as I know the place has heaps of waves. Have family there and use to spend many holiday surfing there when I was younger.

Head south from there and you will no doubt find something that you can have to yourself. Amazing part of the world.

No different to any other small country town. There are heaps of waves in that area, head south to Treachery head if the wind is from the north quarter.

Blueys and Boomerang get good waves also. wouldn't be many crew around mid week I would have thought.

There is a small group of us paddlers in the area, as for locals being not so SUP friendly, it is probably because local SUP paddlers behave themselves and paddle a bit up the beach leaving the crowds to fight for waves between themselves.
It is just like any where you behave yourself you wont have any issues.

I have had no major dramas surfing Tuncurry on a SUP. Like anywhere, be polite. The totally uncrowded Tuncurry option is to surf the shoal breaks around the sand bar inside the breakwater. You get a fun little ride when the swell is bigger.

As above, the better waves are around Pacific Palms at places like Boomerang. I had some shortboaders snarling at me out there once, but given they looked like they were from Sydney, I did not give a flying f#ck. Funny thing was Team Hurley were out around the same time and they were cool to SUP with (again being polite). As the crowds tend to congregate at either end, you can always get half decent waves in the middle of Boomerang.

Seal rocks point is worth a look in a decent southerly. Again, if the point is crowded, which is not likely mid week in the off season, you can score the odd decent wave down the beach.

Tuncurry worth a look, never had a problem with true locals quite the opposite actually. One mile sometimes has a good bank, otherwise as already stated boomerang is the goods

Hay Adapt check out one mile beach at Tuncurry it gets perfect A Frame banks I've had the place pumping but its a very sharky. If you ride a short board surfboard as well? pray for a large swell the Foster/Tuncurry Channel pumps as good as the Swansea Channel and Old Kirra. You're on the best surf adventure mate the east cost of Australia is just GOLD

Downwinder at home 1985 Swansea Channel with no crowds (Yes Please Mr Wizard)
