Should be smaller an on a different angle op the top of paddle for those that like to choke down on the paddle
But yes it does look wrong.

Every fool with an idea which should have been aborted in the first thought stage is now trying to cash in on the popularity of sup, we shall indeed see more of these "advancements" coming through.

Why would you bother with this silly idea.

Only goes to show that the inventor has got no idea how to use a SUP paddle.

Silly people indeed.

This does absolutely nothing for SUP's trying to gain respect in the surf haha.

Worst. Idea. Ever.

Lacey you may well be right, but this video overplays it ridiculously IMO:
- the bloke doing the paddle demo around the 1:30 mark has one of the worst paddling techniques imaginable, and it's no wonder these blokes end up injured if that's the way they do it
- the bloke who paddles around and gets off must love SUP more than life itself, as he hops off and then feels such terrible pain in his back, then his shoulder, then his wrist and forearm. Poor thing.
- a mystery man, devoid of the power of speech, points to a text book and x-ray, and we are supposed to assume medical/anatomical consensus on the paddle's virtues and imminent threat of physical damage
- the paddling demo at 5:10 where he tries to show the waving that occurs when you paddle sometimes is a crock - he's paddling out of the water for starters, then gives it a wonk with the straight paddle and makes it perfect with the handle..?! c'mon, leighton, c'mon!
- the surfing bit at 5:30 doesn't show a thing, just makes a suite of unsubstantiated claims.

They do have a point with the lower hand and the angle, though. But isn't this what Werner tried to do with their bent shaft paddle (noting many Breezers wrote it off in a recent forum as being too ugly or some such, dearie me)? I know I get a sore right elbow, so maybe I better get one and try it out.

I have been plague by Tennis Elbow and before by Golfer Elbow.
Now is so bad that I can't pretty much paddle anymore!!!
The problem is when my injured elbow (luckily only 1!) is holding the bottom part of the paddle...
I have to agree that it is not natural to hold a straight paddle!!
Was thinking to try get one of those bended paddles I saw around...
Could this be the solution to my problem?
Bye Jankie

IMO there are so many things that are so wrong about this contraption.

The main one being that my lower hand position varies at least 10" depending on how I'm paddling and the conditions.. Even in constant condition I vary the position.. I would hate how this would lock you into only one position.. I guess you could carry an Allan key with you..

I wonder how much weight this would add to your expensive light weight carbon paddle.. I'm thinking it might double the weight of some of mine.

Fyi... I already hook up with the guys. It weight 160 grams. Price not sure as it will be sold first only in Europe. I have one in order already and should get it in 3 weeks. I tried everything for my elbow. Cortisone, ago puncture , manipulation etc... nothing work.. next is to get operation that everyone say is no good. Can't even hold a paddle anymore.... so yes I will try it and let you know. Me not interested in advantages but in less pain.... years sgo there were paddles with fancy shapes snd windsurfing booms with such a bend. I hope it will works...

kitesurfball, are you sure it's your paddling doing it to you? One of the worst things to bring it on can be computer mouse/keyboards that are not ergonomic. I'm getting elbow issues too, but it doesn;t hurt at all when I sup, it's when i';m on this bl00dy computer (when I should be working....). You can also get arm braces that make a difference...? Tried em?

+1
I used to have the same problem, so I started using the mouse with my left hand, it didn't take very long to get used to. I hardly use my right hand on the mouse anymore, and my right arm, shoulder, and elbow, no longer bother me. Cutting down on computer time also helped,,,,,, on several levels.
